Just a bit of advice from someone who has had braces TWICE in my lifetime. Stay away from someone who is only an orthodontist!! I know many people who have had to turn around later and re-do what can be done and some damage can be permanent. Be sure and see a dentist that is also certified in orthodontics. Believe me, it makes a world of difference and the overall health of your teeth is at stake. Years later, a poor job will give you problems!!! The very best in Vancouver is Dentistry on the Heights on Mill Plain just West of NE 87th Avenue (by the hospital). Drs. Greg Williams and Jack McFarland. Dr. McFarland re-did my poor job done by a standard orthodontist. I had my 2nd set of braces about 15 years ago and the job is still holding. My 2nd set of braces took about one year. The first set, took 3 and one half years (they milk you on monthly payments and keep the braces on for what seems like forever!) The ortho-only pulled teeth that didnt need to be pulled (and he wanted to pull more!) Dr. McFarland addressed the shape of my bite and jaw instead of just pushing the teeth into a line. My teeth are straight and I actually have a good bite and no more jaw joint problems. My husband just had them do his teeth in midlife that should have been done many years ago. His teeth look amazing and it changed his entire face!! Best of all, it was done right with the overall health of his teeth and bite for the long term in perspective. Remember, when a standard ortho is done with you, they dont see you anymore... A dentist thinks about the long term picture. Plus, this office is reasonable in the costs as well.

Good luck on your search. If you give them a chance, I know you will be happy with the results - now and on the long term.

Connie Brown is good, there is also Dr. Robert Croft, he is on Mill Plain and 136th (I think). There is a Rite aid there also. Both of these orthodonists are good. I have worked in the field for many years and have never heard anything bad about either one.

I came across this post and had to comment on Julie J.'s comment since it is incorrect. Orthodontists complete dental school and go on to 2-3 years of additional residency programs to become specialists. When you say "stay away from someone who is only an orthodontist", that doesn't make sense. They are the ones that have had the additional education to know what to do to treat the difficult cases. All dentists can do braces and learn how by taking some weekend continuing education courses, but only ORTHODONTISTS are specialists in this. Similarly, physicians can treat heart conditions, but cardiologists are specially trained in heart disorders and are the experts in this area. Just wanted to clarify.

Constance Brown is great. She's off of Mill Plain and 123rd (I think) behind the Dairy Queen and the Chinese restaurant.

Dr, Edward j. Curley. He's over by the Vancouver Mall. He sees both my kids and I would have him work on me too! He talks to people like people, not like idiots. He gets excited about progress and never makes anyone feel bad about themselves.
The Orthodontist I had as a kid, always made me feel like I wasn't doing the right stuff. I would follow his directions and still not be doing what I was told. My brother however never did anything he was told, and was praised.
That's why I would recomend Dr. Curley to anyone.
We live in Beaverton now and make the drive. Even if we had been transferred to Seattle or Boise I would still make the drive.
Good Luck!
