Does anyone have a favorite inexpensive place to go near Disney World. We are going to Disney one day and are looking for something inexpensive or free for another day. I was thinking maybe a museum a fun place to shop or a park. It is my husband, my self and 2 girls ages 4 and 6.

What can I do next?

There is plenty to do around here, but most stuff will cost you (not as much as Disney). Try Old Town on Rt 192 in Kissimmee or take a ride down International Dr in Orlando, there is lots to do there.

I would suggest Legoland, it is a little farther out from the big parks but the cost is much cheaper to get in and your kids are the perfect age to go.

I agree with Downtown Disney. Lots of fun shops and restaurants. You can take a pontoon boat from one end to the other for free. There is usually entertainment too. Sometime mentioned Legoland. The McDonalds here in Tampa are giving out coupons for free child's admission with adult admission. Maybe you could look on the Web and find that coupon. (I'd be happy to send you some. I know I have one in my car.)

We had tried the dinosaur park and had a picnic lunch in the cool cave (and I mean temperature). There was a place to dig for bones and a fossil find that you got to keep shark teeth that you would find. It's different but a nice not so busy place.

I second the Downtown Disney idea -- we just went there for the first time this year (we have two boys ages 7 and 3). They loved the Lego Shop, they have some impressive Lego sculptures. They have a candy shop, a design your own tshirt store, cool restaurants, and just a lot of fun things to look through. You will definitely end up spending some money there (food etc) but nothing like you spend getting into Disney! We were in Orlando earlier this year and actually skipped Disney (not in the budget this year) and went here instead. The boys enjoyed it and it's an easy way to spend a few hours.

We go to downtown Disney a lot. It has neat shops, restaurants, a movie theater and it has a lego store where the kids can build with legos. There is a huge Disney store that is fun to look through. Two really cool restaurants are the T Rex and the rainforest cafe- they are both fun and really cool for the kids! There is also a Ghirardelli Ice Cream & Chocolate Shop- yum!~ and a candy store. It's a cool place to go and free!
