We just got back from Disneyworld and universal last week. I planned our trip in two months. I got my hotel thru disney website and our park tickets from Undercover Tourist website. A great informational website is Allears.com. Since it's so last minute you may want to go directly thru Disney so they can send your magic bands right away. You can make reservations for rides before you get there with the Fast pass + system. I really liked it because we stood in very few lines there because of the Fast pass.

We did not do a meal plan and had groceries delivered by Garden Grocer. We ate one meal in the room, sometimes took sandwiches and snacks and also did quick service dining. It's impossible to get reservations at some of the dining places if its just a month away. Luckily, we weren't really interested in character meals. We spent half the money on meals this way vs doing a dining plan.

We stayed at port Orleans French Quarter and really liked it. Nice pool with a small slide. My 8 yr old was happy, it's one of their moderate resorts. The bus systems there are very good and you hardly wait.

Have fun!

I always booked our Disney trips directly through Disney.

Sounds like hubby is there on business so you done "need" to stay on property but be prepared to pay for parking and such.

Depending on age of your children you target what parks you want to as as priority.

If you stay on property. I suggest Polynesian if at all possible. That is where we always stayed for years and I love that hotel. I've not been in about 3-4yrs though as our daughter is now 19. We stayed there every 2 yrs from the time she was 2-16

We never did a meal plan, we just don't eat that much and we prefer to pick our places to go which are higher end restaurants. Love the Chef Mickey at Contemporary, luau at Polynesian and O'Hana breakfast at Polynesian. Several great restaurants at Epcot.

Whatever you do, Maximize time and have fun!!!

Pop Century Hotel is very reasonable !!! I love the pools there.

Disney Direct gives good info and prices.

The dining plan is WELL worth it if you are there more than 4 days. Last time we went, we were there for 9 days. I saved SO MUCH using the dining plan !!!

If you do not get the dining plan, eat at the counter service places. The meals are about 10,00 each. That is a lot less than the sit down restaurants. Yet, you are still eating out ! I LOVE Pecos Bill's in Magic Kingdom !!!!

Bring your favorite packaged snacks on the plane and, then keep them in your room to save money.

We did not rent a car last time. We used the Disney buses.

I assume you will be staying with husband wherever he is staying. If you do not need hotel, all you need are your tickets which you can get when you get there. Allears.net is a great site. Tells you everything. Gives you menus for the restaurants anything you need to know about Disney you will find there. I started a month ago trying to get dinner/character reservations for Dec. virtually impossible. This is early Dec. when the crowds are not bad. Good luck. Have fun.

There are lots of online forums. Not sure which are the best but I do know that You need to book your dinner reservations and fast passes immediately. Some people get the dinner reservations 6 months in advance.
