early intervention is one of the easiest, less invasive methods to treat orthodontic issues.
I was just curious to how many children have orthodontic appliances at a young age before all the baby teeth have fallen out & all adult teeth have come in.I have an 8 yr old who i'am having treated with orthodontic work he has had a hard time with baby teeth now his adult teeth are coming in this way & that way & need some additional help so for he won't have this problem as he gets older & is left with a mouth full of teeth that have no room to fit.His adult teeth are perfect accept that they are not coming in properly his jaws are not growing the way they need to to make his teeth fit.I was just curious if many others have orthodontic work done at a young age, mine is for the need to gain space, health & welling being of my child & cosmetic.Yes I was referred by 2 pediatric dentists to have orthodontic treatment,I knew this yrs ago & now at his last check up it is time to begin his treatment.
There was early intervention I began taking my children to see a pediatric dentist at age 1 yes first birthday & every 6 months there afterwards, some teeth are just not meant to be perfect, invasive or not it has to be done

We started our older daughter with a palate expander in 3rd grade. She had braces on and off through her grade school years and was all finished with orthodontia the summer before high school. If it weren't for early intervention she either would have had to have quite a few permanent teeth pulled (like her dad did) or her jaw broken. Much easier to do it when they're younger, in my opinion.
I started mine at a young age, 4th grade. My baby teeth were not falling out on their own so I was taken to an oral surgeon to have them removed, 8 at one time. Another trip 4 at one time. After that my adult teeth came down and we began my treatment.
My sister is 8, and just started hers about 3 weeks ago. She however has most of her adult teeth already except for molars.
I was wondering the same! My kid's pediatrician suggested to take him to an orthodontist since he has too much space between his teeth. I have seen many kids with these problems also. I hope everything works fine for your son.
My friends daughter got braces just before her 8th birthday. Her adult teeth weren't coming in and they had to make room. Then they pulled the tooth in. Her teeth look great right now and she will get the braces off fairly soon.
My daughter is 8 almost 9 and has had to have and extender and braces to add space to her mouth. She is handling it fairly well but and i know it is what is best for her mouth.
You are smart to start early. My daughters teeth are all kinds of a mess. They come in not only crooked (sideways!!) but also in the wrong places! She just got braces over the summer on her top 4 front teeth after having 2 baby and 1 perm tooth pulled. She should have started some kind of treatment years ago. So good for you, its better to do it when they are younger. Good luck.
