My family is currently with Kaiser. I used to have Blue Cross. Both sides could be better, it really depends on what you are looking for in your health insurance.

If you have a Dr. you like and they're with Blue Cross, there's your answer. I personally didn't like going to the Dr., then going to the lab, then going to the pharmacy . . .

Kaiser to me is more convenient with everything in the same place. Also if you need to see a Dr., there's always one there. They have an advice line you can call 24hrs a day and I like their recent shift towards wellness and preventative medicine. I enjoyed taking the prenatal yoga classes that Kaiser offers its members. My husband was also able to quit smoking with their free quit smoking class and support group. I absolutely love our pediatrician and feel that he gives excellent care to both of my boys.

I will admit that I did have negative experiences in past years with Kaiser, but when I started to get crushed under the cogs of the big HMO machine, I screamed and they listened and now I'm very happy. You can give me a call if you'd like to know more.

Wishing you the best in whatever you choose,

ABSOLUTELY Blue Cross. Take Kaiser only at last resort - they are notorious for giving bare minimum care, or inappropriate/no care. Especially when it comes to the health of your kids, always go with the non-Kaiser option. Talk to many people - the general consensus is that nearly everyone hates Kaiser.
