You do not need to visit an ophthamologist (a specialist) - just an optomotrist. Try Costco (if you have a membership card) or Sears (you can charge it). Last year, I got a pair of glasses for $49 at Sears! Good luck.
Good afternoon! First time to the site. I am looking for an Ophthamologist. I don't have insurance and resources are scarce...but the fact is I need my eyes check really soon. Does anyone know of one in the Chino Hills neighborhood?

Wal-Mart does an eye exam for $40 i think it is. They have inexpensive frames and lenses. I got a pair that were really cute for $120. See if they have a refferral program for refurbished glasses. People donate their old ones and they are cleaned, repaired if needed, and replaced withthe new owners perscription. My sister goes there all the time because it is difficult to get into one with Kiaser(her insurance) but since she is covered by VSP for vision they reimburse her.
The Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton across from CSUF is a good bet especially if you have no insurance.
Hi I., If you are only in need of an eye exam, an optometrist can perform your exam and prescribe your lenses (contacts or glasses.) If you have a Costco card go there, they are reasonable and the glasses are very affordable for cash pay. (Sams Club is similar in price.) If you do not have a card, have someone with a card take you.
Good Luck!
