My second son just turned one and sadly, it's been awhile since I've done the one year old things! We are needing to get him off of his bottle, and he's not into sippy cups. What cups worked best for you for the transition? Also, he is eating no baby food, but is completly on solids, but he will only feed himself certain things. Any of you have tips on how to get him to finger feed himself most things? Also, when did you stop giving your children milk before naps and just have a snack instead? Thanks for any info!
For sippy cups, I went to the Gerber Nuk because they were similar to bottles. This helped ease the transition. We also started on real cups at meal times.
For the solids, just keep offering, and help him as needed. Try new textures and colors, it just takes practice, he will get it and one is definitely not the mark that he should be feeding himself everything from that point on.
I never gave my child milk before naps, as I did it on waking up, and I only stopped that when he stopped asking for it (about 2).

No idea on the bottle thing. My daughter never took a bottle. When she was 12 months, she really liked cheerios, gerber puffs, wagon wheel snacks, yogurt, cut up grapes, bananas, noodles, peaches, cooked carrots, pasta pickups, etc.
My nephew is 16 months and still takes his milk before nap, so I wouldn't worry about that right now.

Hang in there, he is only 1...he is still a baby. Just keep putting different cups for him to choose from.
It is actually ok that he skipped baby foods and is eating your food. He needs you to feed it more than anything.....
Who is asking you to do all of these things? are people pressuring you?
I still nurse so my 1 year old gets milk every time before naps.
I honestly dont think there is any harm in giving milk and a snack before nap.
Dont worry- it will all happen. Just take baby steps and be patient or it will cause you and him to be upset and stressed:)

We introduced a sippie cup around 6-7 months. He didn't really take to it a lot until he was closer to 10 months old. I'd start by introducing him to a sippie cup (different kids like different styles but I'd suggest forgoing the ones with soft nipples because they are too similar to a bottle and will leak!). Get several with a semi soft or hard spout and a valve. Just start offering it at mealtimes/snack times. If he refuses it, don't fret but just keep offering it. Eventually he'll take it. As far as the bottle, I'd start weaning him by not offering the bottle but the sippie instead at 1 instance each day. The next day, offer it 2x and increase it each day until he's only offered the sippie. It's also a good time to stop giving him milk before nap/bedtimes. If he still wants something to drink, offer water in a cup. That being said, my son just turned 1 and he'll still drink milk before bed, but not while being rocked or anything, I just like to 'top him off' before he goes to bed!
As far as finger foods and feeding himself, it's whatever he's comfortable with. Make sure to keep giving him food on his tray (or table) that he can feed himself. Even if it is more messy! I have started putting my son's food on a plate or in a bowl on his tray and he'll eat it out of there and it's neater (some of the time!).
