I am thinking about taking a one week trip for my 30th birthday with my husband to Big Sky resort, Montana. It is also a business trip for my husband so all cost except my plane ticket would be paid. I am thinking about asking one of my close friends to watch my children. I have 3 children and she would be staying in my home and eating our food. I will also leave her money for gas and the children if they need anything. Does anyone have any suggestions how much I should offer to pay her??

Thanks,
A. : )

How old are your children? Will they be in school during the day? That would impact how much to offer her. Happy birthday!

I was thinking $300 also, $100 per child. You aren't actually paying her since she is a good friend and you are leaving food and money for incidentals, but you don't want to take advantage of her either. I think $300 is a nice gesture. If she has to take off work, it may need to be more.

We are planning a couple's getaway for two nights and three days to a close by city, my mother will watch my two girls and I will be paying her $100. she will be staying at our house and doesn't have to pay anything(food, gas etc) just take care of my girls.
I would figure that for a whole week, I wouldn't go below $250 since it's a lot of work and for a longer time. JMO
Good luck!

That's a hard one. I'd discuss it with her...is she taking time off from work? Bringing her own children or family?
I'd think if you can swing it maybe $300. You figure the cost of daycare can range from $120-190 per week per child & that's only about 10 hours of care. Or a nanny would be around $10 per hour.
Who knows maybe she'd do it for free in honor of your birthday & friendship.
Good luck! Hope you have fun!
