Hey, im 16 weeks pregnant with my first baby and i've been miserable throwing up nonstop and sick even with cold. I get home and all i want to do is sleep and not smell anything. My midwife recently prescribed the generic of Reglan which did not help at all it just increased how i felt 100x!! Anyways she then prescribed Ondansetron. But but after doing some researching, I must admit im a little bit effy on it...im sick and tired of feeling like this 24/7 but nothing else has helped...please some advice from the experts!!!

What can I do next?

I was the same way until I hit my 2nd trimester and still get sick every once in a while... I found that B~Natal preggie pops was the only thing that helped... I had gotten a sample from My OB office.. You can buy them from Walmart or Walgreens pharmacy... The have lollipops and lozenges.. Good Luck I hope you get relief soon...

... I had MEGA bad morning sickness and migraines, ALL day with both my pregnancies.

Per my OB/GYN's suggestion, I got Acupuncture.
Just one, half hour session was all it took.
It does not hurt and is VERY relaxing.
It is safe.
It works.
See an Acupuncturist that handles pregnant women.

all the best,
Susan

This is generic Zofran. I took it while on chemo for nausia and it worked well for me. I don't know what the side effects are during pregnancy or if there are any concerns for the baby, but I assume the doctor wouldn't have prescribed it if they thought it was an issue. I'm pretty sure I would only have taken it out of desperation while pregnant (I don't like to take medication even when I'm not pregnant), but it sounds like you might be there. I would just ask the doctor about side effects or possible issues with the baby to put your mind at ease. Hope you're feeling better soon!

I was VERY sick with my youngest son. My doc prescribed 1/2 a unisom and a B6. Worked wonders! If your concerned about that other med ask your doc about my remedy.

I am a BIG FAN of the unisom and B6 method. I used it for 4 of my preganancies and all is well. No throwing up and a good nights sleep. What more can you ask for! :) Feel better soon!

Zofran is the safest and most effective for nausea (aside from the iv meds), originally created for nausea symptoms in chemotherapy patients with compromised immune systems. I had tried almost every natural remedy and prescription and Zofran was the only thing that worked for me, I had extreme nausea all nine months of pregnancy. Ondansetron is the generic form of Zofran, it works very well, but not as well. It is better to have strength and nutrition during your pregnancy for you and your baby, so go ahead and fill that prescription.

If I remember right this is just the generic of Zofran, I had to take it for a few weeks during my last pregnancy with hyperemesis, didn't do me any good whatsoever as I was so sick only IV fluids helped and Reglan helped the most, it closes the flap above your stomach to help keep food down. You have to use it right and take it 1/2 hour before ever meal but it works great. Sorry you feel like this it sounds like you might have a bit of hyperemesis, look into it; if so you are not alone and there are many option to help with it. I chose to have IV fluids ever other day and skip liquids going into the tummy altogether as that was the primary trigger for throwing up. Fluids in the tummy just made it so much easier to cause the food to come back up. I had the most aweful 8.5 months with my third but she is out and beautiful and worth all the pain and suffering :)

I'm 39 weeks prego with my second and have had to use it throughout this pregnancy for vomiting - it's the generic for Zofran. My doc said its safe to use and often prescribed. It has worked wonders! ...just be advised of the #1 side effect: constipation. It did cause that, but i was SICK of being SICK!! Good luck!

17 weeks pregnant and took some Ondansetron myself this morning! It has helped me immensely. I was sick my first two pregnancies but only throwing up in the a.m. This time it has been around the clock and only starting to improve now. I think some moms somehow relate it to the toxicity of chemo though it has nothing to do with that-it just treats the nausea. My sis was prescribed it for SEVERE all day/all pregnancy sickness but once she saw the word chemo while doing research, she wouldn't touch it. But man, I wish she had. She was GRUMPY! :)
