Is anyone else on here taking Lexapro for either depression or anxiety? If so... have you noticed any sexual side effects, especially a lack of interest in general? My husband has been worried that I'm not attracted to him, etc.... I started Lexapro almost 6 months ago and combined with Seraquel notice that I am in general a lot more stable mood-wise, but I wonder if it's the medication affecting me, or just LIFE and STRESS in general. any experience?

thanks so far for your answers... i'd like to add that when i do have sex, i have very little problem climaxing although sometimes i do a little bit. it's just a lack of interest. like no sex drive at all most of the time.

What can I do next?

I was on it for a couple months about 3 years ago. Yes, I did have problem in that area. I was interested in sex, but there was nothing that I could do (no toys or even my husband) to make my climax. Even leading up to that was a little painful. I got off that med. very quickly and that was the one and only time that I ever took any type of antidepressants and never will again

I can not take any of the SSRI anti-depressants without experiencing sexual side effects. My doctor and I have tried a few and with in a week or two the orgasms are gone. Sorry if it is TMI...but not only don't I want sex, I can't even have full fun when we do.

I have taken Wellbutrin and I love it...no sexual side effects, in fact for about six weeks it can make you turn into a bit of a nymph-o...until you settle and the side effects wain a bit...also it can decrease your appetite...if you gain weight when depressed it can really help get that off as well...also, when I stopped taking it there was no discontinuation syndrome. (Getting off Paxil was hell on earth!!!)

Anyways...don't let your doctor tell you the sexual side effects are all in your head or part of your depression. Try a different medication maybe a different SSRI or a different class of medication. I had one male doctor try and tell me I just needed to live with it...(can you imagine if a male patient went in and said I can't get an erection...don't think he would have been told well you just have to live with it)...I dropped that doctor.

Ask about trying something different...maybe not Paxil though it was hard to stop taking...good luck and feel free to PM me if you need to...unfortunately I do have experience with these drugs...

My husband is bipolar, so when he is on his anti depressant meds he doesnt care about anything.
That's what those drugs do, they make you NOT FEEL.
So, it is not personal between you and your husband, it's the drug talking.

This was the one medication in which I DID NOT LOSE ANY DRIVE! I feel bad for my hubby :-). There is also a generic available.
