So hubby was in the mud room and found my old Santa bells that used to hang on the back door knob. I love the sound of these bells and completly forgot about them until he brought them out for our 2.5 yo. She got the biggest smile on her face and said Santa! He asked her if she wanted to play with them she said No! and got really shy and quiet. Almost like she was going to cry and kept saying Santa, Santa. I would have never thought that at this age she would really grasp the Big man in red. DH told her he would leave them out in the mud room for Santa to get since he "forgot" them when he came over last weekend for pictures.

So to keep with the rules have any of your kiddo's had this kind of reaction with Santa?

What can I do next?

We were decorating the house several years ago and I found a bell at the bottom of the box. (The jingle bell type like the "Santa bells".)

Well, Christmas Eve we were putting presents out and moving boxes around and this bell fell out. I forgot to pick it up! The next morning the kids come running into the room freaking out! We figured it was typical Christmas hooplah...nope. They found the bell! They were freaking out screaming that Santa lost a bell and we had to get it to him!!

So we put the bell in a box, and swore to the kids we'd find a way to get it to Santa. The next year, the kids pulled the bell out and wrote a letter to Santa to saying he had lost this bell. Hubby and I got on the computer and wrote a letter to the kids saying thank you for returning the bell and how Mrs. Claus always gets so upset when he loses parts of his clothes. The next morning the kids flipped out when they found the letter and then, under the tree, found the white fur (like what you see around the ankles, wrists and collar of Santa suits) under the tree. Hubby and I didn't put it there and were a little freaked out when they found it!

Those are the greatest memories though!

Aww! That is sweet! My girl (3) is "aware" of Santa--she loves the Target commercial "Santa has Elves... and Target," but she's not all into him. Her thing this year is the TREE! Her birthday was on the 8th and when asked what she wanted for her birthday--all she would ask for is "a Big Christmas Tree, Please." :) So, we did get her one ON her birthday! She put up a lot of the ornaments and rearranges them every night when we get home! She was excited when they put up a tree in her classroom and whenever she sees one somewhere else! "Look mama! They have a Christmas tree, too!!" It's interesting to see what things these kids get into from year to year (and month to month)! Merry Christmas to you & yours!

My youngest is almost 2.5. He has seemed kind of scared about Santa this whole season. He refused to sit on his lap when we took the kids to see him, and called him a "scary monster". Anytime the kids talk about how he's going to come on Christmas Eve, he says "No! Scary!" But tonight, he told me he's going to give Santa a big hug. Next year, he'll be much more into it, but it's really cute seeing him wonder about it. I can't wait until Christmas morning when he sees all of the M&M;s in his stocking. That's all he wants from Santa, so he's going to get a huge stocking full!

No, we are not big on the jolly old fat man, I do not invest much in him with my son. I allow him to be excited and have a comprehension of his story but I do not go out of my way to "feed the beast" that is Santa.
