I've honestly never heard of it used outside of the cardiovascular world to help with cholesterol, etc. But, I was able to find this study indicating you may be onto something:
http://www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/omega-3-000316.htm

Just remember that the mind is a powerful thing - many people can respond well or poorly because of the power of suggestion (placebo effect). If it doesn't happen to help, don't be so opposed to trying more traditional approaches as well.

After almost a decade in the pharmaceutical industry, I'd advice something with deep clinical information over those with only anecdotal experience. If you can't find a clinical study (respected) to support the findings, I'd always be a little cautious. Also, be cautious with OTC medications - most are not FDA approved and have little evidence to support their claims.

Good luck!

Omega 3's are a lifesaver for anxiety sufferer's. I worked with a girl who would have HORRIBLE panic attacks at the slightest provocation. Her meds were not helping at all and created alot of extra symptoms. Fish oils helped her SO MUCH! The change in her was shocking.

Omega 3's can help with moods, depression, anxiety, constipation, improve mental clarity, relieve eczema and other skin conditions, eliminate dandruff, increase immunity......
You get the picture! :)

The BEST omega's you can get are from Carlson's or Nordic Naturals. I would NOT buy from a company that sells a thousand different products or vitamins. Omega's need to be processed properly or they become rancid and actually do much more harm to your body.
You can get the brands I listed at www.vitacost.com or www.luckyvitamin.com or any other online retailer, many times at a discounted price.

Good luck!

Hi K.,

Omegas work well with anxiety simply because they work with the neurological system. We've know for years that to get smart, eat fish. That's not an old wives tale....

An absorbable multivitamin would be a good basic thing for you to have along with the Omega. Proper, really proper, nutrition gets all the things in your body balanced, including the chemisty that plays around with your brain. My extended family has always had issues with anxiety and I've been able to "calm" several of them down with the vitamin I take, lol. I also have friends that use it for their ADD and hyperactive children as well.

Make sure you get a high grade Omega or nothing will happen. Let me know if you want suggestions.

Regards,

M.

Omega 3's are the new Acai Berries! I have heard that they can do everything lately. If only it were that simple. You have nothing to loose, especially your anxiety, if you try. Meds work though.

I never heard that about Omega 3’s, but that’s great to know. Recently, my husband and I both started taking recently started taking an herbal supplement called Luminex to help with depression and anxiety, and it’s been very helpful in improving our overall mood. It may be something for you to look into. It contains natural ingredients like St Johns Wart, griffonia seed, folate, and vitamin B12. Hang in there mama!

try looking for the book HOPE AND HELP FOR YOUR NERVES and MORE HOPE AND HELP FOR YOUR NERVES . those two books made all the differants for me. you will probable need to look on the internet because they are old books. the best thing you can do is learn all you can about them and how and why they happen. the best way to deal with one in the moment is to let it happen. it will last a lot less time. god bless and take care of yourself. oh , get plenty of sleep. Organic foods. Get yourself tested for a vitamin D deficiency. A good multivitamin. Omega 3. Lots of raw plant material (make this your main dish, and the meat/grain a side dish). Some sort of exercise that includes stretching at least every couple days. Low flash point oils only in your diet. Sea salt.

And if you have digestive issues, figuring out what they are and how to actually eliminate them (not just medicate them) will do wonders for many people.

I got rid of depressing, most of my allergies, panic attacks, migraines, a pain disorder, GERD and several other problems this way.

Something that has help me tremendously, in addition to Omega 3 (which females need an abundance of during and after pregnancy) was transitioning and getting off Gluten. Gluten intolerance (not just Celiac Disease) has been linked to over 300 mild - major related issues that can effect multiple symptoms of your body. Anxiety is one. I can speak from personal experience that just avoiding Gluten, and taking Omega 3 when I remember to, has been 100 times MORE effect than any medications (which do correct problems internally, only mask and typically create further health issues or at least side effects.)

Give a shot. It can't hurt, and could help you get healthier, as it has for me. If you want more info, research it online, or message me.

Hi K.,

I feel your pain. I get them too, and my only option is praying and meditate. I try medication and all it did, was make me worser than I was before. My husband is US marine, and when he leaves for depolyment, that's when I get it real bad. Try not to think about situation that might cause you to have one. Just Pray and ask God to take it away......PS and he always do.

I am not positive but Omega 3 is GREAT for your heart and panic attacks and anxiety race your heart so it may help. Try it, even if it doesn't, you are taking something amazingly healthy.
