Olathe/Overland Park Bound - Need LOTS of Information

I also just moved to the kansas city area from new york. my husband and 2 children live in lenexa but we are in the olathe school district. which i am told is very good. i dont know because i have no school age ch9ildren but have friends who do and they just love the schools. we live in a great sub division (manchester park) it is between k10 and k7. we have a pool and the grade school is in the sub division. if you have any other questions please feel free to email me.

Hi A.! I live in OP but my very good friend lives in Arbor Creek. I'd LOVE to hook up with you and do a playdate. My friend and I both have boys...3 years and the others are 6 months. The 3 year olds are in Little Hearts Preschool but i don't think their class has any openings right now. I live in OP in Bentwood Crossings...fyi the house next door and the one across the street are both for sale! :)

We just moved to Olathe in July from California. I don't know any particulars about Arbor Creek Elementary, but I know that we had looked at houses in the subdivision of Arbor Creek. I do know that Johnson County is known for their great schools. What I did want to offer you is the realtor I used to find my house. She herself is a former teacher and is very knowledgeable about the Kansas City area. She is extremely organized and professional. I wish I had her as my realtor for my home in CA. Also, I have a daughter who is four years old and I had to find a preschool as well. She was attending a YMCA preschool in CA prior to our moving here. We live in the Southwest corner of Olathe, not far from the city of Gardner. I tried a preschool there for a couple of weeks, but decided it wasn't what I was looking for. She now goes to the YMCA preschool in Olathe. They teach the "creative curriculem" program which is where the kids learn through playing. They don't do any type of "ditto sheets" or practicing writing their ABC's or numbers, unless they choose to on their own. That was something I was not used to at all. The Y preschool in CA gave out homework, but my daughter didn't mind doing it. Now I just have her do her writing at home with me. I also checked out La Petite Academy in Olathe on 151st St. It seemed like a good school too and that one would be closer to the Arbor Creek area.

She is great and totally understands the kid thing, we have two boys. She knows how to power shop on the weekend as we did this several times. I am very picky I guess:)
As for a preschool my oldest(4) is attending The Schoolhouse and LOVES it. www.theschoolhouseonline.com. They start at age three. My other son(2)goes to a mom's day out program at the First Baptist Church called Noah's Ark. He thinks it is total fun. The only reason he does not go to the schoolhouse is because he is not old enough.

I just moved here recently myself, and my realtor was AMAZING. She was extremely knowledgable, and I was a difficult client - very hard to please because the housing market where I came from was very different and my expectations were different. She also had to do a lot of running around for me because I was out of town and couldn't do it myself. She had to do so much more than for a local client, and she did it all and MORE with a smile. You are going to love it here. I live in Palidsade Park, just west of Arbor Creek. Both are great subdivisions and both schools (Arbor Creek and Sunnyside) are great schools. My daughter goes to Sunnyside, Kindergarten, and then goes to Arbor Creek for Y Care on consolidated days. For daycare, check out the Olathe YMCA. We let me daughter go there from the time she was 2 1/2 and she was more than prepared for Kindergarten. If you need anymore information let me know. My number is ###-###-#### (____@____.com). Hi A.. I live in the neighborhood right by the Arbor Creek subdivision and my house is for sale as well (Woodland Creek subdivision). Lots of kids on my cul-de-sac in that age range of your little ones. We have a community pool and playground.

There is a day care called Shining Stars in Arbor Creek and others in the area.
