really itchy. Itchy to the point that i am actually telling you about it on this website! and it doesn't seam like the normal winter dry skin itchy. this has been going on for weeks, but much worse this week.
I sound like a idiot, but i swear it is deeper than that. it doesn't feel like the top layer of my skin that is itchy, and my skin is not dry or ashy to the touch. it feels like the under layer of my skin is itching! and it is getting worse!!! .... it is making me crazy.
I do take hot baths and showers, but i am not an over bather, i don't sweat allot, so i just bath every 2 or 3 days. and i have tried body butter and lotion, but it doesn't seam to help.
is this making sense to anyone, or am i just being a whiner?
EDIT:
Wait, are you ladies messing with me?????
well ok ladies, i guess. i am going to see the Doc!
Thank you!
When the first lady said see a doc, i totally thought she was messing with me, because i was being a baby. But i guess this is actually a thing so i will have it checked out.
again, thanks!

My husband experienced the same exact thing a while back. It was EXTREMELY dry skin. His dr. recommended to use Dove, the white one. This helped get rid of his itchy skin. Hope this helps.
You need to see your doctor. This can be a sign of serious illness.
I get like that when I take Vicodin.
Yeah, I'D schedule a dr.'s appt. In the meantime, take some Benadryl
Take an antihistamine.
Go to doctor. Itching can be a sign of kidney problem among other things. Check it out.
Could be a sign of a bigger problem. Go to your dr. as soon as you can.
My severe itching led to a diagnosis of extreme iron deficiency. Still have it.
Give a read.... there are many other illnesses or allergies this can be associated with.

Benedryl might help if it's some sort of allergic reaction.
Anything that helps with histamines - Claritin, etc - might help too.
Try an oatmeal bath - Aveeno makes a colloidal oatmeal soak which is very soothing for topical itchy problems.
Epsom salts and/or a cup of plain yogurt in your bath water might help, too.
Make sure the water is just warm enough - not hot - because it can strip the oils from your skin and make you itch more later on.
Have you changed any soaps or laundry detergents lately?
It's possible you've just developed an allergy to something - they can pop up at any time.
See an allergist so you can figure out what is going on.
With me ... It's morphine ...
This could be really serious, so make an appointment ASAP with your primary care physician. He may end up referring you to a dermatologist, or possibly another specialist. It might not be a skin condition at all. I'd rather not speculate on the other conditions since Dr. Google isn't your friend and will freak you out, but as another person said if you take Vicodin it could be that.
I agree with the others that you should see your doctor. And narcoitcs like Vicodin will absolutely cause this and the effect is like you describe. I cannot take percocet b/c of it.
I got that way in the middle of my pregnancy and then again recently (my son is 6 wks old). There is a kids benedryl cooling anti itch gel and it is amazing, but sometimes that doesn't work. Ice packs have helped everyonce in awhile too. So something cold might help you good luck!
Nerve damage, Diabeties, irritated lymph nodes/system, stress, dry weather, excessive sweating, excessive working out, allergic reactions, food allergies, etc.. all cause extreme itchiness. However, I am not sure if it would just come on like this, so suddenly. It could very well just be an allergic reaction to something. However, it's best to consult a physician to be sure, and to ease your mind.
I agree-see a Doc. Could be scabies.
Don't want to frighten you but my step-sister experienced this and it turned out to be the only symptom of her cancer.
It was lymphoma...get to the doctor asap!!
I do this every winter. I use Aveeno lotion or the Oatmeal lotion by Avon. It really helps. Another one that is pretty good, actually better in my opinion is the regular Gold Bond lotion. I find it works better on the dry skin and it makes the itches go away for longer time periods.
Sounds like allergies. Seriously. Go see an allergist. Is there any new products or reformulated old favorites? That is a good place to start. On any new medications?
Hope you get to the root of the issue.
Start with changing to an unscented bodywash. Try Aveeno (Walmart has an off-brand version that is lots cheaper).
I'm allergic to fragrances. Can't have them on my skin. It started with just "the itchies" from bodywash, and then a few years later, I started getting folliculitis bumps from my Tide detergent and Downy dryer sheets. A skin allergy! Argh!
So I switched to ALL free and clear. No fragrances for me means no itchies.
Oh, and lotions and body butters are, unless unscented, only going to make it worse.
Best of luck!
