I know its Tuesday, but Happy Mother's Day.I hope all of you had atleast one part Sunday that made you feel special, relaxed, happy or just glad to be a mom!!! I have to say mine was quite eventful to say the least. My son had a baseball game Saturday morning at 9am,on my way I had to meet my step-son's mother cause he forgot his uniform for his game @ 3pm(we had my SO's kids too)With me was my SO's daughter and her girl-friend(who spent the night) asking me whats better menthol or regular tobacco ciggs, shes 14yrs old mind you.I get to the game and my ex has to leave suddenly due to an emergency. When he finally calls,he informs me that my 9yr old's dog had just been hit by a car.BTW the person that hit dog kept going while she laid there with a broken back.(how cold)after the game my son wanted know what the emergency was,we had alot of plans for the weekend,so I made the decision not to tell him until the weekend was over.At the time I told him things were ok,I spent the rest of that crazy, busy day feeling aweful that I knew this and did not tell him.The dog did have to be put down(his first dog of 3yrs)Did I do the right thing?OH,my SO blew his back out,my mom called me in tears because she ordered my sister and me flowers to be delivered and the orders were lost and my 2yr old has back molars coming in...HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What can I do next?

OK, ladies, not meaning to be insensitive but to put things into perspective...when my son was 5 he was kidnapped by his father and taken to Nigeria, his father's homeland. I did not have contact with him or know where he was for 11 years, 11 Mother's Days. Each one was excruciating, I would have loved to have had a crazy, eventful one even once, just to know that my child was safe and to be able to hold him in my arms.

Mother's Day is everyday, once a mom, always a mom. Hug your blessings.
Happy Mother's Day, mamas, today and every day!

Holy crapola you had lots of stuff happen! I'm sorry all that happened on your day! And yes you did the right thing with the dog and your son. There was no sense in adding to what was already a hectic situation. Don't spend another second feeling bad- you protected your son at that time- exactly what a mama is supposed to do! Maybe you could do another Mother's Day with you, your SO, and the kids. Pick a day that doesn't have anything going on and plan some activities you enjoy doing with the family, forget about everything else, and extra enjoy being a Mom- a good Mom. Hopefully your SO's back is better, the molars are in, and things are better now! Hugs

WOW! You are amazing! I don't think I would have come through that and still been sane! You are the strongest woman on the planet! I am going to hug my kid a few extra times when she gets home after reading your post. That has to be the single most scariest thing in the world to go through that. I'm assuming you got your child back? Maybe someday you'd be willing to share the story with us- I know I am so curious how you made it through the time he was gone and how you got him back. But anyway- man we have some strong, amazing mamas on this site! That's what I love about it- the people on here and how we are willing to share our experiences and knowledge to help the other parents. :)

M., so sorry about the dog. Putting the dog down was the kind and loving thing to do.

It seems so unfair that all this other stuff had to happen all at the same time, especially about your SO blowing out his back. I sent flowers to a funeral one time and the idiot driver just sat them outside an unused door of the church and drove off. They didn't find the flowers until hours after the funeral. Talk about angry!

I do still appreciate your post two days later - sometimes moms who have had a relatively quiet Mother's Day and hoped for more "spice" can certainly gain some perspective by reading what you wrote. And at least you didn't write harping on how much women who work and let someone else (specifically grandparents) take care of the kids don't deserve to have a happy mother's day like another woman here did. She's got more excuses to act holier-than-thou than a dog has fleas...

Hope you can drink a glass of wine tonight after putting the kiddies to bed. (And of course, after giving tylenol to your two year old!)

Hugs~
Dawn

Well, how about this one:

On Friday night, my MIL insulted me - twice - in the same conversation. I totally lost it with her. She burst in to tears and ran to her room crying! So, I knew it would make for a lovely Mother's Day since she comes over to our house. Ugh!

Then, while the kids were playing in the pool, she chased after ball that escaped and tripped and fell into a brick planter. And my hubs had to take her to urgent care to check out her head.

Yep, end of mother's day celebration!

oh, the joys..... not!

I hear ya! My mother's Day was much the same, visit to the vet, soccer game. The only thing I can add is that my 6 year old spiked a 103 degree fever from playing soccer in the 85 degree heat with a cold and had to be carried off the field. I guess we do what they do where they have to do it, and that's being a mom! Hang in there!
