Oh the Stains and Smells.....

Ok, I have 2 questions here:
1) I had freezer pops sitting on the counter and somehow a few of them had holes in them. They leaked on the counter and I didnt notice it until it was too late. My counter is now stained with the wonderful colors of blue, purple and red. I was wondering if there is any way that I can get the stain lifted??

2) My 9 year old pomeranian is losing control of her bladder and she sleeps in our room at night. She has sleep with me since she was a puppy and we have a cat that is left outside of our room. So, if I just leave her out with the cat, my cat just torments her and even attacks her. Anyway, question is; My dog, Pixie has peed in front of our bedroom door and I have cleaned it with pet carpet cleaner but it smells awful. Is there something that will cure that?

We have just bought a house and will be moving within the next 5 weeks, so I want to get this house super clean and ready for the new renters.

Thanks!!

What can I do next?

J.-
Ok on the freezer pop the same thing happens to me! I use Kitchen Lysol cleaner for the counters and let it sit for a while and it works! Even after it sits for a little while. I buy it at walmart you can get it pretty much anywhere. Hope it helps!

For the 1st question, try magic eraser. I was able to get a grape juice stain off my counter with that. Hope it helps!

For the second question, I don't have a good answer. We had a puggle that was doing that and never found a good product.

Try a making a paste with baking soda and water for both of those. Put the paste on, leave it for a little while, scrub off with warm water.

Nature's Miracle takes care of all pet pee odors. But make sure you apply it and leave it, don't try to dry it or wash it. The enzymes need to stay there and do their work. If it has soaked deep into something be sure to apply enough to soak down to all layers. Then you can blow a fan on it to dry it.

Not sure about the counter stains but I would try baking soda first then Magic Eraser.

Hi,
For dog and cat pee: color test the carpet first, but we've not had a problem. Then clean it with Regular Listerine. Works like a charm! My sister got this tip from a dog breeder.

For the stains, I swear by Arm and Hammer with Febreeze. (Purple bottle) I've gotten red stains out of the counter top.

For the smell, Natures Miracle. I think you find that at Petco or call your Vet.

Hi there
I had a similar problem with my countertop. I had KoolAid seep back behind the microwave (still can't figure out how that happened) so the stain sat there forever. What worked for me was a cleaner called Bar Keeper's Friend. It's a powder sold near the Comet and Ajax and it works wonders! It's also not harsh, which is nice. If you have a glass topped stove it's great for that too.
Good luck to you!

Soft scrub with bleach for the counter, and any type of specific urine removal product for the urine- Nature's Magic, or something similar- they have at Petsmart and even at Walmart. Then, you'll probably want to rent a carpet cleaner and clean the carpets so the dog smell isn't left behind.

Baking soda works wonders!!! I have started buying it in the largest size. Sprinkle a bit on the counter and scrub gently with a wet cloth. It will leave behind a white residue that you just wipe with water until it is gone. It's cheap and it's all natural! "Simple Solution" is a great product for pet stains of all kinds.

I would recommend a product called Sol-u-mel. I've used it on messes that my dog has made, and it definitely gets rid of the stain plus the smell! It removes stains from hard surfaces, like your countertops, too. And I LOVE that this product doesn't have any harsh chemicals, so it is safe to use around my daughter. She's 20 months old and into everything! I'm sure you can relate with a 12 month old of your own. ;) You can't purchase Sol-u-mel in stores. It is only available through an online wellness company. If you'd like more info, send me a message, and I'd be happy to share the details with you.

For the pet stains. Mix a spray bottle with vinegar and water. (I also put a few drops of pepperment oil from Young Living in it but I do that for the smell..... I don't think that has anything to do with the cleaning aspect.) And spray that on the carpet stains. Put a paper towel on top and pat down. You will be amazed at how well the stains come up!!!

We do this with our stains from our puppy...... It works wayyyyyyy better than the store cleaner we were using (Spot-shot).

Good luck.

I can offer some advice about the pet urine smell. There is a product that you can get at most pet stores called Nature's Miracle. It is the only thing we have found that will take out the smell of cat urine. It may take a few treatments, but it does work. Old stains may need some soaking. We had to use it on our infant car seat when our cat decided to use it as her new litter box, and we have been using the car seat for three years now without any remaining smell.

For the counter I have had that problem and have always just used Dawn. Instead of putting it in a sink of water just pour a thick layer on the stain then walk away for about 5 minutes. Then use a soft wet cloth and scrub if needed and rinse counter. If the color is really bright sometimes I need to repeat but it usually works and I like it because it is gentle. Be careful using other items on your counter like the magic eraser because it can damage the finish. If you have ever used it to remove marks on walls you would know that it kinda takes off a thin layer of paint which can be noticable.

As for the pet stains I have an old dog too and I like nature's miracle and I have tried quite a few. I especially like that there is a nature's miracle formula for my steam cleaner. You have to look around for it because not everyone that carries nature's miracle has the steam cleaner formula but it does a great job of getting the smell and stains out. Good Luck!

Try bleach on the freezer pop stains. Straight bleach works the best pour or spread with a dish cloth leave for a few minutes and stains are gone. I would open a window to get rid of the fumes.
Pet urine try vineagar or vineagar water solution, let dry, then frebreeze the area. I had a cat who had cancer and she would pee in my sitting room/office. Of course that room had the newest rug in it. I have slip covers on my furniture and she got the bottoms of that too. Mr. Clean has a general purpose cleaner with frebreeze in it and I tossed the slip covers in the washer with that cleaner, no laundry detergent, it got the smell out. If I think that maybe the room is smelling again I frebreeze the areas that she hit.
Try putting puppy pads in your room for Pixie to go on, hopefully she will pee there and not on the carpet.
I normally don't like to use any extra chemicals in my home to keep odors at bay but in this case it was either that or toss out new slipcovers and a new rug.

Not sure about the counter stain, but if you go to Petco and get a pet cleaning product that has enzymes, and leave it one there for a while, it will work like a charm. We've used an enzyme product to clean a carpet with cat spray all over it, and when a dog peed on our futon (we used it that time in a rented steam cleaner) and we got it all out.

I forget the name of the product, just go to Petco and ask for their enzyme pet-mess cleaning products, and get the most expensive one to make sure you're getting quality. Put it right on the carpet and let it soak a couple of times. If that still doesn't work, borrow a steam cleaner (or rent one from Home Depot) and run the machine with the soap, and then run the machine with the enzyme product afterward. Good luck!

For your counter top - try CLR or something that often works for me it to take some liquid dishwasher detergent (like cascade) and put some of that on the stains, spread it around, let it sit for awhile and then wipe it off.
For the pee smell, try mixing 1 part water and 1 one part amonia, pour it on the area so it is soaked. Then lay towels over it for awhile so it gradually lifts out. Might need to do this a couple of times.

Regarding the counter stain... depending on the color and type of material of your countertops, you might want to try Soft Scrub (I use the kind with bleach in it). I used to use it all the time on my old counters which were white but any light color counter would do fine with Soft Scrub. I don't use it on my marble though but I didn't know what kind you have now. I'd just try it on a small spot first to make sure it doesn't discolor or anything.

I can recommend a product that will not only remove the stain from the counter, but also remove the pet stains on your carpet and deodorize the area. The product is called Sol-U-Mel and is made by a green manufacturer- Melaleuca.
Sol-U-Mel is a completely safe product unlike cleaners such as 409, softscrub, majic eraser, ect..., which contain so many harsh ingredients.
I actually have a demonstration that I show to others, so they can see how safe and effective this product is.
I allow someone to write on a photograph, of my daughter, with permanent marker. Then I have them wipe it clean with just a few drops of the Sol-U-Mel. They are completely surprised when the permanent marker comes off and most importantly, doesn't damage the photograph!
I've also removed fingernail polish from carpet without destroying the carpet. Amazing? Absolutely!
I would highly recommend this to anyone, especially those who have children or pets.
One product - 2 different uses. How easy is that? Saves you time, money and adds convienence. I'm sure you could use that with your impending move.

You've already gotten good responses on the stain and odor removal. I just wanted to suggest that if the dog pee still smells that bad after being cleaned up, maybe a trip to the vet is in order. Your dog could have a UTI.
