FILE for UNEMPLOYMENT!

Regardless of what your former employer says is the reason you were fired, tell unemployment office you are SURE it's because you are pregnant.

I did that and got 60% of my regular pay for 26 weeks!!

Good luck!

Also, when you go on a job interview, the perspective employer CAN NOT ask if you are pregnant and you are NOT obligated to reveal that.... or any other personal question like "do you plan to have a family?"

Wear loose clothes that don't reveal your tummy.... better for them to think you're "just fat" than to think you're pregnant.

You also have medicaid, WIC, food stamps, etc at your disposal.

If all else fails, "go ebay". Meaning go to garage sales, thrift stores, etc and make a profit on ebay.

Personally, I became a home daycare and get to stay home with my son AND have playmates for him AND get paid!!

If you were laid off then you would qualify for unemployment - unless your employer lies about it. Did you receive documentation about this? If they say you were fired, then I would pull out the pregnant card as mentioned by another poster. Unfortunately, with FL labor laws, it is much easier for employers to let someone go. I would also contact temp agencies...especially this time of year, there are certain types of companies that need extra labor- such as in reservations, call centers (people calling in to buy presents), etc. The pay might not be as good, but it's better than nothing.

Just keep doing what you just did. Tell EVERYONE you know, and even people you don't know that you are looking for work. Someone will hire you. Especially now, you may be
able to find a seasonal temp job. I had to quit working as a massage therapist at 6 months and look for a desk job. d I was worried that no one would hire me but in just a few weeks I started working at a friends place of business doing phone and internet sales. It was not my favorite job but it kept money coming in before the baby came. If you need to go to a temp agency. Tecnically you can not be disriminated against for being pregnant but you are more likely to get hired if you are looking for a temporary position. Good luck!
