Odour Removal

If you don't see the source, and if it smells bad, it's possible something died in your walls.

If it smells like beer or sweet-ish as opposed to nasty, check for bees flying into small cracks. I had this happen in an upstairs bathroom with an outside wall. A TINY hole, and the inside between the studs had no insulation. Bees found it and built a hive - 3 feet long in my wall. Didn't know what the smell was till a piece of the wall popped IN and bees came into the house. Sadly, the hive had to be killed because inside a house there is NO ability to control the situation.

If the bee situation is the issue, call a service that can remove the hive from the outside and transfer it elsewhere. Bees are a needed resource so avoid killing them if at all possible. It's not their fault they found a nice home.

Describe the odor. It could be rotten food or a dead rat. Has mildew or mold grown on storage items or the walls? Are there small dark pellets? Those would indicate rats or mice. I have had rats in my basement that have died. They can cause unpleasant odors.

With all the potential smells in a garage, you need to be more specific about what kind of odor you mean.

Garbage cans need washing. A freezer on the fritz. Some critter got in and died in a hidden location. Mold/fungus growing. A leaking liquid container.
