Odd Question About Mounting E-z-pass

We recently invested in an E-Z-Pass account (partly to save toll money but mostly to avoid toll booth stops that wake sleeping children). Although we are allowed to use the transponder on all our vehicles, they only provide one set of mounting tape (similar to Velcro but different). Where do I get more for the other cars?

What can I do next?

You can buy some.

Or you can hold it next to the mirror as you drive through and put it back in the cup holder or something when it is not needed.

When we needed more, we got it from the EZ pass people. Is there an office local to you? Call the PA Turnpike Association and see if they'll send you more (http://www.paturnpike.com/contact.aspx). You'll definitely need it if you have to replace a windshield ...

They will send you more strips but you have to register all the vehicles - otherwise random camera shots will generate a notice of a fine. In Massachusetts, even if you protest the fine, you get hit with a $5 administrative fee PER INCIDENT. It takes very little time to list all the cars involved. Also, did you pay for the transponder? If not, why not get 2? That's what we did after our state dropped the sign-up fee - 2 transponders, 1 account..

Why not get 1 transponder per car? Will you always remember to bring it with you?

I never mounted mine anyway, I just keep it in the center console.

I got this neat holder from Bed, Bath and Beyond a couple of years ago that attached to your window and the transponder slides into it. Its pretty good.

I always just take the transponder out of the glove compartment, hold it up to the window while passing through, and then put it back.

I would look at a craft store.

I just called EZ Pass and they sent them to me. Took a couple of days in the mail.

If you are near a toll booth with a human toll taker, use the toll booth. They should be able to give you extras.

You can probably get it from the place where you get your pass.

I'm in TX and our older pass has Velcro strips and the tolltag company will send free strips to you.

Out newer tolltags are not interchangeable and are applied on a specific area of the windshield .

Just make sure your e z pass company has all of your license plates connected to that pass number!

Good luck!

I just keep mine on the dash, up by the windshield, next to my inspection/registration stickers, never mounted it. Works just fine.

I just went online and they sent me more strips. They will also send you more bags.

Before we bought our own, my parents let me use theirs when I went on work trips and hit the NJ Turnpike. I just held the transponder up to the window and put it down after I went through- it worked just as well.
