I am looking for advice regarding an OB/GYN associated with Lutheran General Hospital. I am 3 months pregnant and I want to switch from Swedish Covenant to Lutheran General. I need a doctor that accepts BCBS HMO. I would like the doctor to be female and someone that I would see for prenatal care AND delivery. I don't want to spend time with a doctor only to find out she won't deliver my baby. Any thoughts???? Thank you in advance.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for all of your input. It was very helpful. I have switched my doctor to Dr. Alice Chen. I have not seen her yet but will in a couple of weeks. Thank you!

I am now 29 weeks and have been seeing Dr. Chen. She is WONDERFUL! I never have to wait long and she has a great bedside manner. I definetely made the right choice, thank you for the reccommendations.

My OB/GYN is Ian Jasenoff, phone number ###-###-####. He accepts BCBS HMO. He has a wonderful bedside manner. He is very respectful of women and was wonderful with the delivery of my son. I still see him as my gyn and he always asks about my son. Me and my husband both adore him.

Good Luck! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me.
Thanks!

If you are only looking to switch from Swedish because of wanting to find a doc who will be the one to deliver your baby, you might want to consider Dr. Nonno Yakoub who works with Swedish. She is the only one in her practice who delivers babies, and is a Family Medicine doctor. So, you could make her your primary care provider, as well as your baby's doc.

I love Dr. Alice Chen. Her own practice. Not sure about insurance coverage. I drove from Schaumburg to Skokie (by Old Orchard) for appts. She was totally worth the drive and very patient focused. On staff at LGH.
Would absolutely recommend her!!

My OB was Dr. Pesch, his office is at the Parkside Bldg. in Lutheran General and he's very good. There are more doctors in that office maybe you can ask for a female doctor when you call. The number is ###-###-####.

I had the same problem. All group practices are like that. It's hard to find a single practice DR. I found Dr. Markowitz at LGH. He's great! I wasn't rushed he took the time with me to answer all my questions. Friendly staff. If you have any other questions please feel free to email me.

I'm also pregnant and was looking for an OBGYN. Dr. Alice Chen was my first choice but was disappointed that she would not accept patients that are 11 weeks or more in their pregnancy. It's hard to get an appointment and the soonest available date is at my 11wks so the office refused to take me as a patient. Next choice was Dr. Carson Maureen...and its worst the next available date is Jan 2011.

Here is the contact info for my OB/GYN that is in the Parkside building attached to the hospital. I have been going there for the last 15 years and they really do make me feel like family. From the office staff, to the lab techs - they are wonderful caring people. I highly recommend them. Good luck!

Most practices can not guarantee that one specific dr. will be there to deliver your baby. If you want a female to attend your birth you might want to consider staying at Swedish and switch to the midwives practice. It is all women and you can have any type of birth you want.

It might be hard to find an all womans' practice at LG

I love, love, love my OB/GYN. Her name is Dr. Julie Snow and is associated with Lutheran General. The office is called Women's Health Specialists. It is located inside Lutheran General - in the Parkside Building. Phone # is 847/692-9234

I delivered my daughter at Lutheran General and they have amazing doctors. I was hospitalized for a month prior and the staff was amazing. I was very young at the time, and they were so helpful and kind. My first ob/gyn was Dr. Beth Sum. After about a month or two of visits I switched doctors. She was a great dr, but I did not feel any sort of connectionb with her. She didn't have the most outgoing personality. I switched within the practice to Dr. Matt Nash. If you could get over the fact that he is a guy, and incredibly good looking, he is an amazing doctor. Very kind and gentle. And he actually cares. When my labor was induced he stayed around longer to be there for the c-section. (I had labor comlications so the inducing didn't go as planned) I know there are also several doctors in his unit that are amazing as well (male and female). I hope you find this helpful.
