Nylons-Help!?

Is there any one brand that you Mama's out there have tried that is better than another? I swear I have tried every kind of nylon from Victoria Secret $20 a pair to WalMart $3.00 a pair. I can't seem to wear my nylons more than twice without ruining them somehow and I'm very frustrated. Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Take Care,
K.

So What Happened?

I appreciate ALL of this advice. I will put it to use. I do need to purchase a lingerie bag...I'm going to try the freezer idea OR better yet..put the LEGGS brand and Calvin Klein brand in the freezer, do the hairspray thing and see if I can't get at least 6 months wear out of them.
Thanks Everyone...K.

I use Leggs Sheer energy. They seem to last a long time and I wash and dry them in the machines. Givev them a try - they run about 3.99 a pair.

I haven't tried them myself, but a perfectionist friend of mine said she finally tried Silkies, which comes mail order, and she wouldn't use anything else. They want you to join their club, though, to get reasonable prices on them. You know, where they send you pairs all the time and you pay for them. My friend was not about to do that, so the salesperson on the phone said she could put her membership in the club on hold for a long time (maybe a year?) between buying them. www.silkies.com Good luck!

Try coating them with a thin layer of hairspray just after you put them on. Your legs will feel a bit funny for a few minutes, but the hairspray helps to stop runs . . .kinda like putting clear fingernail polish on the end of one after it starts to keep it from running more.

Well I don't know of any that don't run eventully but when they do run roll them over a can and spray them with hair spray(in an airasol can) or for a "deep" run just roll them over a can and get some clear nail polish and it will take care of it.

Try Calvin Klein. They're not cheap, but they're not much more expensive than Victoria's Secret. I'm a massive runner of pantyhose, and I had a Calvin Klein pair for over a year. They're also silky as anything and feel fabulous on.

Also, be sure your toenails aren't too long - good excuse for a monthly pedicure!

Good luck!

Just an interesting sidenote: I once heard that nylons were so strong when first invented that most women only bought one pair. The company found that after a while this did little for their bottom line and so hired someone to design them to run.

Another little sidenote: I did a little research on this and can not find evidence to confirm or disprove this little story. Most websites stop with the fact that Wallace Carothers killed himself with poison.

I have ALWAYS relied on Legg's brand since I was 14! LOL Tried other kinds and none match up! Although, you do have to be gentle with ANY nylons. If you keep your toenbails short and filed, you don't wear your shoes too tight and you don't walk in them without shoes and make sure you keep them rinsed after wearing without throwing them in a washer and store them back in a bag when you are not wearing them, then they shoud last you anywhere from 3- 7 times. NO pair will last you any longer than that! Just face that fact! LOL P.S. I live in Clearfield, UT if you want to stay in touch!

Hi K., I wish there was a nylon that would last but if that was the case the nylon buisness would be out of buisness. but a friend sugeested to me once to buy dancer tights they are stronger than the nylon and you can get them in different colors try that. it worked for me. if you don't like that idea todays fashion is just plain bare legs either go tanning or buy some tanning products you can do yourself. wish you luck.

Have you tried JCPenney's brand. The cost is about $6 per pair. Great support and good quality. That's all I buy for me and my girls. We attend church 3 times a week and always wear nylons. I buy them buy the bulk and they last for about 3 months.

Hope this helps.

My mother in law taught me a great trick. Store you nylons in the freezer. I don't know why this works, but it does, then be sure and spray them with hairspray.

Go to a dance supply store and invest in a few pairs of Dancer's tights they are great. They are about 50$ per pair I think but you can wear them a long time. We used to have to wear them in ColorGuard in High school under our spankies and I used the same pair all year. Also, wash them in a lingerie bag if you use the washing machine to prevent snags.
