My Son is 4. And this child LOVES NYC .So do I .BUT am a single mom and he is now too big for those Umbrella Strollers and well they S**k on long walks. so for me to go on city trips it’s a hassle alone, which mean I must drag along a friend ;{ So I would really like some help is there bigger Stroller for walks like that that won’t get stuck on every single crack I go over. because museums and central park and great way to spend our days. And he really needs it on the walk home (Penn station) when he basically done and too tired to walk, plus a stroller a good way to hold stuff, as in lunch or extra clothes

What can I do next?

City Mini might be the solution, its big and rugged enough, but still has a 1 hand fold down. They run about $200. Don't know how often you plan to be in the city. Might make better sense spending the money on cabfare to go from the park/ museum to penn. Come autumn he'll probably be big/ strong enough to walk.

Good luck to you and yours,

I think a jogging stroller is the only kind that's weight goes up high enough for a 4 year old.

My son did NYC at 4 with no stroller and was just fine. I brought a backpack with some snacks, drink and change of clothes and he was good to go. Sure, he was tired at the end of the day, including walking back to Penn Station from the activities and then walking to the house in Wantagh from the LIRR platform in the evening. But that's what's great about a big day!

Just hold his hand and have a great time! Maybe you'll even discover some new things to see/do when he has more interaction with the city than just gliding by.

I had a smaller 4 yr old and a larger umbrella stroller so we used it for trips to NYC, and Washington. In the subway station I folded it up and he walked while I dragged it and held his hand. I continued to use it at age five for long days at the zoo, etc I would research strollers online.

The Maclaren Volo goes up to 50? lbs. Try that. Find a used one.

Or you can do what I see other parents do - let him ride a foldable scooter. There are lots of kids in NYC on them now.

He should be able to handle walking. Took my grandson who was 3 1/2 at the time and he did great. Instead of walking to Penn Station just hop on the bus or subway. Take a backpack and you should be good for the day. To be safe, let him have one of those backpack that has a (I hate to use the word leash) attached. No need to drag a someone with you
