Hi Michelle!
You can also try Lee & Eddies. Their food is great and is delivered HOT!
I also agree that one person shouldn't have to pay it all. It should be a potluck party.
Good Luck!
My husband is a principal of a school and wants to have a party for his staff to kick off the new year at our house. We do not have a lot of money to put into the party...to be honest, I really don't want to have it! I'm just doing it for him...
Can anyone reccomend cheap catering ideas on the NW side? A lot of the people will be driving from the South Side and I don't want to just hand them a slice of pizza and say have fun (: Thanks for your ideas...

Hi Michelle,
I really don't have advice on the catering question. However, I just wanted to tell you about my personal experience regarding a kick off party before school starts.
When I taught second grade, every year before school officially started, the staff was invited to someone's house that lived near the school. That "someone" was usually one of the secretaries since she was close to the school and had a pretty backyard. Anyway, teachers would decorate/organize their classrooms and then go over to the house and reconnect before school officially started. Staff members would come over with a dessert or appetizer. (No alcohol was served) Just cans of pop/lemonade.
Well... my point is....I really don't think your husband's staff would mind contributing to the party. I don't feel it's necessary for one person to pay the expense in this particular case. Just my 2 cents, though!
I live on the northwest side and have used Saranecki Brothers Catering - www.gardenbanquets.com - click on catering - for both of my kid's first birthday family parties. Excellent chicken and roast beef, delivered HOT and ON TIME and v. affordable for what you get. The only downside is that they have a 30-person minimum order. I don't know if that's too many, but its great as leftovers too.
Try a VFW. My M. uses them in the south suburbs, but I know they are all over. They deliver and their food is great and cheap! I wish my principal threw us a party in August!
You could try Corky's. If you are just really looking for basics that is. Their chicken is pretty good. And you can order the full meal deal thing that would come to about $5 or less per person. I think their minimum is 30 people.
