My four year old daughter is a very picky eater, so I worry about her getting enough protein and fiber. The only way she'll drink milk is if Strawberry flavored Nesquick is added. I'm looking for a more nutritional (preferrably strawberry flavor) powder that I can add to her milk that will give her both protein and fiber? esspecially fiber because she has periodic bouts of constipation. Appreciate any ideas on this. Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for your input everyone!! I tried strawberry Nutrapals and that was a no-go. I didn't like the taste of it myself, so I thought I would gradually introduce her to it and only added 1/3 cup to her strawberry Nesquick and she could tell the difference. I'm going to try Carnation instant breakfast sometime, do some Benefiber and I read that pears are high in fiber - we'll try pear/applesauce too. Thank goodness she has come around to applesauce (I know - seems like most kids like applesauce, she's just extremely picky) so that is helping a little with constipation. Appreciate the feedback, thanks all! :)

I like the idea of making a milkshake in the blender, I presume it is with real berries, which would provide more fiber. You could add other fruits like ripe banana if you think she'd be willing to try a slightly different flavor. Start with just a little bit of banana (or whatever--peach, blueberry, applesauce) if you think she needs to get used to the additional flavor. The extra fruit will provide more fiber. If you think she wouldn't object, you could add oat bran and /or ground flax seeds, or maybe some almond butter mixed in.

I must confess I am not sure we need as much milk as the dairy industry suggests. Maybe her body is trying to say it doesn't like milk, and the only way she can get it down is to flavor it? food for thought....

Try carnation instant breakfast drink. They have strawberry flavored. I'm not sure about the fiber content but it has alot of vitamins and good things in it. Sometimes too much milk will cause constipation. My 4 year old grandson is very picky and we thought he was drinking too much milk He was having a constipation problem.. We have talked to him about how important it is to eat right and not drink so much milk. He is doing better now. We just make sure we keep an eye on how much milk he's drinking for his age and get fiber in his diet.
