I am thinking of using a nutritionist for a few reason. To get healthier, lose weight, and manage polycyclic ovary syndrome. Has anyone used one and what has been your experience? Any suggestions for the Cheshire area if you are near?

What can I do next?

No. But you could ask your PCP. Your healthcare might even cover a few visits.

If you want something covered by your health insurance, consult your PCP. You might want to put Cheshire CT in the title of your post so it goes to people in your area. Embedding it in the body of your question means it doesn't get seen by the people in your area who will know of people. That still won't jive with your health insurance but it's a start.

Food science is another way to go especially for the management of PCOS and overall cellular health. You don't need a nutritionist for that - there are on line webinars, conference calls (listen-only as well as some interactive), free seminars all over the country, etc. That worked for me.

You are smart enough to do research and figure out what you like.

Every single nutritionist has their own agenda. This one will preach be a vegetarian and that one will swear that low carb is best and another one will say do Paleo.

You need to eat foods your family will eat and what they'll do well with.

I had a gallbladder attack back in the Fall. The doctor sent me home with strict menu choices from there on in....I eat fruits, veggies, whole grains, avocados, drink water, a bit of wild salmon and lg scallops, quinoa, brown rice pasta/brown rice,
smoothies w/ frozen fruit and sunwarrior protein powder.

I have my blood checked once a year to check my nutrients. I take Vitamin D because I was low. And I get fresh air every day, no toxic cleaning products and exercise.

Do get a blood test with a work-up and see what u are lacking !

Find good raw, vegan places to eat/drink. Make a list of farmer's markets to visit this summer to eat fresh and local !

Do not go on a very low calorie diet----you do not want to starve your body and lose muscle.
