Nursing Bras - Joliet,IL

I'm having a hard time finding nursing bras with enough support. I know that I should get fitted, and I've gone to Motherhood, had a fitting, and tried on what was available, but didn't find anything with enough support (I'm a big girl, with big "girls"). I've gone to the department stores in the area, and no one even carries nursing bras. I'm getting frustrated, and would appreciate any advice of where I could find a decent nursing bra with a staff that could help me find the right fit.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I'm off to Tina's closet in morning. Wish me luck!

I had a very difficult time finding supportive nursing bras also. I tried on bras everywhere. If a store offered a nursing bra, I tried it on... The very best I found were from Anita Maternity. I wore the underwire ones. I know they recommend you not wear them but I did and I didn't have any problems. They do have bras that don't have underwire too. I was able to find them at Von Maur in the Yorktown shopping mall in Lombard. They don't have a huge selection there but you could try them on for size and also order online. (I ordered from thepinkbra.com in the past.) They are not the cheapest bras but they made me feel like a real woman for a year while I was nursing. Hope that helps!

Hi B., I got your message. The last location I was at was in Naperville,it's been a few years so I don't know if they are still there. There is one in Downers Grove too, it is also very nice, and a bigger store. I called and there is a working phone number with hours etc.... I will include the addresses. Maybe you can call the Downers Grove location and they can tell you if there is any other locations. Otherwise it is worth the trip. (some bras can get a little pricey $45 + ) Good luck I hope you find something.

Tina's Closet! She is excellent at fitting and carries all sizes!! It's worth the trip. Do a search and you'll pull up her website for hours etc. I know she is closed on Mondays.

Hi B.,
I highly recommend Transitions Into Parenting (http://transitionsinc.com/shop/index.htm). They are located near Edward Hospital in Naperville, and are wonderful. They can fit you into the right nursing bra for you (so discreetly), and can also give you guidance in sizes for after the baby is born, etc. The one I bought from them is the Leading Lady brand, loved it! Great support, easy to open and close with one hand, and not too expensive (between $22-$28/bra). Good luck with that and congrats!

I also reccommend Tina's Closet. I was big before - 34G and am bigger now that I am nursing. They bras aren't cheap but Tina knows her stuff and the bras are quality.

Tina's Closet in Lisle also carries nursing bras in all sizes. Tina usually fits the women herself, and she is a professional bra fitter.

Hello! I had the same problem as you. I delivered at Rush Copley and finally, after not being able to firnd a bra that offered any support, I contacted the lactation nurses, and they reccomended a place to me near down-town Naperville. I believe it is: 640 South Washington St Suite 100 Naperville, Tel: ###-###-####. However, if you want to be 100% I would contact the lactation department at Rush Copley. The place they sent me was great; I found a bra (they do not sell ones with underwires) that actually fit (even after trying on about 15!) You need to make an appointment before going. Good Luck!

Myself as well as other moms I know have just used sports bras. They are cheaper and more practical than nursing bras!

I had the worlds greatest, and best supporting, bra. I was an H (I thought that was big) and it worked wonders. I found it on www.babycenter.com under the store and breastfeeding, then nursing bras.

It's called The Supreme Nursing Bra by Bravado Designs. It has a clasp in the middle that unhooks too that helps you from "falling out" when you sleep and keeps the nursing pads in as well. They are 10% off right now and are $45. I choked when I saw it but after I used it a couple of times I bought another. The price is so worth it.

So get sized somewhere and then buy this bra!!! It's great.

Can you call the hospital where you delivered and talk with the breastfeeding nurses??? They helped me the most. They fitted me great and the selection to choose from was awesome. Just a suggestion. I gave birth at christ hospital, in case you are near there. I am sure they would help you.

Good luck and congrats!
