My two older sons suffered from eczema horribly to the point my middle son's face was horribly affected and would bleed. The ONLY thing that worked for them was Arbonne's Baby Care line. It is all I use on my boys that range from almost 1 to almost 8. The line offers a wash that is for body AND hair. It has lotion that doesn't have to be put on twice a day like a lot of other products you'll hear about nor is it greasy. The sunscreen is so wonderful, my husband and I use it as well. My sons are outside all the time and in the pool several times a week. They all have beautiful tans and aren't even dark which tells me how much they are being protected. There are many wonderful moisturizers that will help soothe your baby, but nutrition is the only way to stop eczema in its tracks. Eczema is absolutely the skin's reaction to food. You must try an elimination diet to see what the cause is. My holistic doctor told me (3 years ago) that the following were causes for my daughter's eczema: eggs, corn, soy/legumes, citrus, strawberries. It turns out that when I ate all of these and breastfed, it caused her eczema. So, while I breastfed, I couldn't eat any of these. And, her eczema was gone. If you are doing formula, investigate what's in it. Children don't have to suffer from eczema. I wish more doctors would say this. Maybe some don't know.

One of my all time favorite moisturizers...Burt's Bees. It's made with bees wax and I love it. There is a baby one made with buttermilk that is super gentle. I used it on my daughters face (she was 4-6 mos old) through the winter. It's mostly natural products and it's good stuff. It goes on a little greasy, but if you put it on before bed it should be fine. It soaks into the body pretty quickly and has mega staying power. I work in a lab and have my hands in gloves and wash alot, my hands stay soft all day even when I put it on before bed. I've said it before and I'll say it again...I LOVE Burt's Bees.

My girls had some minor issues with eczema when they were babies. The only lotion that worked for us was Burt's Bee's Milk and Honey Loition. It feels nice and lite when you put it on, and it smells so good that you just want to gobble up your little one!(if you don't already!)I think it is the honey that makes it work so well? You can find it at many places now. I have seen it at drug stores and wal-mart and target. We got ours at the health food store. That was the only place we could find it back then.It does not contain sun screen, but they may have one from the same company that does. We love all of their stuff. Hope that helps. Beyond that, if you are breast feeding, I would suggest checking into adding a stronger Acidophilus to your diet daily and PLENTY of Omega 3 oils (Fish oils, etc.) A great thing to add to the diet would be UDO'S oil by Flora (The DHA formula) - you add a tablespoon of this oil to foods AFTER cooking; as well as ESSENTIAL FATTY ACIDS like Evening Primrose Oil or Borage oil (I believe you need at least 1300 mg of these Essential Fatty Acids daily to make a difference. www.udoerasmus.com

Removing refined white sugar, high fructose corn syrup and any hydrogenated oils is also VERY important!

My 20 month son has eczema and the dermatologist recommended cetaphil while that worked okay I decided to try another product I was given as a gift - Davies Babies. My son is so super sensitive and anything sets off the eczema but this product works great. I use the Davies Babies all over body wash for his skin and hair in the bath and their baby balm for moisturizer. They also have diaper cream, bubble bath and boo boo stick and I have used all of them with no problems as well. I can't say enough about this product. We really have had very few if any eczema flare ups since using this. I am so thankful I recieved these as a gift because I probably never would have found them. You mentioned that you were looking for something with a sunscreen - the sunscreen that I use on his skin is separate from his daily moisturizer but I also did a lot of research on this and I really love UV Natural Baby 30 SPF Water Resistant and even started buying the adult version for myself. I my self have adult eczema and contact dermatitis and have found great relief from a lotion called CeraVe. My dermatologist recommended it for me as well as my son (then 14 months) who also is having some eczema issues and cannot use any products with Aloe. (He will be seeing the Allergist in two weeks)
I tried many different treatments over the years with little or no relief...after seeing an Allergist and Dermatologist it turned out I am allergic to Lanolin (as well as a few other things), which are in many lotions and skin products! I absolutely cannot use Aquaphor or Eucerin which is what had been originally suggested, little did I know, I was making myself much worse with those products! My flare ups went wild with Cetaphil and many other products before and after.
I have found CeraVe at CVS and have had it ordered for me at Rite Aid if it was not in stock, you can also check their website for other pharmacies that carry it at www.cerave.com. Unfortunately it does not contain sunscreen, so we only use Aveeno Baby because it does not contain any of our allergens, which between the two of us was a wonderful find!

my daughter has eczema behind her ears so bad its crusty yellow most of the time, sometimes oozzy looking. she is only 6 months but itches it so bad she bleeds. its awful. the cream that finally worked was RX only atopiclair. it is so much better than aquaphor. the aquaphor did help, but atopiclair was completely different, more like a lotion, and immediately improved the area. its approved and been tested on 1 month old babys, no steroids or cortizone, and can be used as long as needed. you are supposed to use it twice daily, but if i just use it once, it immediately clears up the problem for about 36 hours. hth

I have found Eucerin original formula cream to work really well for my eczema. Be sure to check the label, I have bought their "calming cream" by mistake and it is not as good.

I second the Burts Bees Buttermilk Baby lotion. My daughter had eczema as a baby (I believe that she was allergic to something in formula because it got worse as I breastfed less and increased formula.) At any rate, aquafore is great when they have a flair up but the Burts Bees was a great daily cream. Soothing, smells nice and keeps the skin gorgeous. I still use "the bee cream" on her and she is 6 (eczema is long gone but she does have dry skin)

Coconut oil or aloe vera gel. I would not personally be using hydrocortisone on a 14 month old. Eczema is typically caused by a lack of good bacteria in the bowels. Almost all skin problems can be looked after by fixing either the bowels or the liver. Homeopathy can work wonders but a probotic is essential. Try Vaseline Creamy Petroleum Jelly, much less greasy than Aquaphor. Both my kids (4 and 18 months) have moderate to severe eczema and I use this on them in the summer, and Aquaphor in the winter. Good luck!

My son has eczema and I've tried nearly every moisturizer out there, including Eucerin, Weleda, Burts and california Baby. We have found two things that work really well Cheeky baby butter by babybearshop and Vani Cream moisturizing lotion. the cheeky baby butter is very expensive so we don't use it so often. Sometimes your local pharmacy will carry Vanicream(I just call and ask), otherwise you can find it online at drugstore.com. Both soak into the skin well and aren't greasy.

I used Eucerin for my son's eczema. I also gave him baths in Aveeno...the oatmeal looking stuff that comes in packets which you add to bath water. Definitely keep baths short and lukewarm, not hot, and put the cream on when your child's skin is still damp...it works better than putting it on dry skin! Also, have you had your child checked for food allergies? My pediatric allergist found that my son's eczema was caused by an allery to wheat, which he outgrew. Hope this helps!

It's not all natural which is very popular on this site, but I love teh line of Aveeno and Baby Aveeno products. My daughter gets eczema pretty badly, I use their oatmeal bath soap, the eczema lotion, and their daily moisturising cream on her and it really keeps it at bay. Every once in a while it will flare up and I will dab some hydrocortizone on the breakout but we keep it away for the most part. They do also sell a baby moisturising sunscreen.

I have also heard great things about the California Baby line but have not tried it myself.

I use cetaphil cream (the one in the tub not the lotion which is the one with the pump). It is completely hypoallergenic- free of any dyes or fragances which irritate eczema. It's what my dermatologist told me to use for my kids who have eczema. It is for people who need a really good moisturizer. They said to use the lotion because it is more moisturizing than the lotion in the pump.
