Hi everyone my daughter has been really fussy because she is teething. She is getting all 5 of her teeth on the top at the same time. I spoke to my aunt about it and she said almost 15 yrs ago they use Numbz It on her child's teeth and it really helped. It was in a little glass bottle which was red. I have looked and looked and have been unable to locate it. I wanted to know if anyone else has heard of it or used it and know if it is still available and where I can find locate it. thanks for your assistance

I don't know where to find that brand of teething medicine. However, my daughter uses teething tablets on my granddaughter and they seem to work well. They are really inexpensive and you can get them at Wal-Mart in the pharmacy section. You may try that. And when I say inexpensive, I mean less than $5.00.

I don't know about Numbz it, but I used Hyland's Teething Tablets for both of my children. It workes very well and is homeopathic. I found it at Wal-Mart and Walgreens.

I did use Numbz It and it definitely worked. Not sure if it's still available. I also have used the Oragel for teething. In a tube. If not in the baby section, try the toothache aisle. Good luck.

HI J.,

A couple other Moms suggested Hyland's Teething Tablets. I LOVE LOVE LOVE these! They are all natural and they don't numb the mouth or throat. Numbing the throat is actually a choking hazard. They don't knock the baby out either or cause any damage to the vital organs, which Motrin can do with too much use. I remember Numz It from when my brother (now 23) was a baby. I don't think it's on the market anymore. I remember him choking a lot when he would have it. But the Hyland's and a frozen, cotton washcloth are the best things for your baby. I get the Hyland's at Target. You have to ask the Pharmacist for them, even though they are OTC. Good luck with everything!

I have not heard of that product or seen in in stores. I did read a caution recently about orajel. The numbing ingredient can also make it difficult for babies to breathe if it gets in their throat. I have used homeopathic teething tablets or gel and they seem to help. I was also told by my pediatrician's office that you can rub a little pure vanilla extract on the teething area. Good luck!

Hi J., I remember it, too - used it on my children years ago. Maybe it was Numzit or Nummzit ... go to the pharmacy window & ask the druggist if it is still made. I wouldn't be surprised if there are ingredients in there which shouldn't be given to children, we are always learning! I could also suggest putting bananas in the freezer (they will turn black on the outside but be fine on the inside), then when the child is fussy give her a chunk of banana to chew on -- that will safely numb her gums. I used to freeze them in couple-inch sections, stuck on popsicle sticks & the bunch of them in a quart size baggy ... if she can handle a popsicle stick then her fingers won't get cold. Of course, you have to keep her in a high chair for that treat because of the danger of falling with the stick.

Usually when I child is having such teething pain it's due to lack of calcium. We like Kid-E-Calc from www.herbsfirst.com. Just rub it on the gums and it works instantly pretty much. It's wonderful!

Don't know about numbz, but have you tried teething tablets? They are safe, homeopathic and work instantly! I used them on my 2 young kids after hearing from my sis-in-law and other moms at the daycare I was working at telling me how instantly they work! I know it is in a pink and blue box? Just ask a pharmacist and they will point you in the right direction.

I've never heard of Numbz. We really like the Little Remedies oral relief gel,b/c it doesn't contain alcohol or sacrin like Oragel does. We also like Little Rememdies Teething tablets. They're tiny little fast dissolve tablets you're suppossed to put under their tounge...Bailey chews hers. They work in minutes and seem to do the trick. She also likes chewing on a cold wet wash cloth, which also helps clean her exsisting teeth<--Bonus!

Good Luck!

I don't know if it's still available, but I used it many years ago on both my children because they had same problem. Check with the drug store or WalMaart, or Kroger.

Numz-it contains the same main ingredient (Benzocaine) as Dr. Sheffield's, Orajel, Anbesol.

I used Dr. Sheffield's teething gel on both my girls. You can find it at the dollar store. For some reason, it seemed to work while the more expensvive Orajel didn't. Go figure.

My daughter just loved gnawing on my fingers, until I got her one of those vibrating teethers from Toys R Us. I hope you find something that helps your daughter's teething pain go away.

I remember that product, I would think Baby Orajel would do the same and it has a much better taste if I remember correctly.

I've never heard of it. I tried doing an internet search and nothing comes up so it must not be available anymore. But we used motrin and teething tablets and let her chew on a cold washcloth...that usually worked :) good luck! teething is no fun.

I have never heard of Numbz It, but I used Hyland's Teething Tabs which you can find at Walgreens, CVS, etc. They are very tiny tablets that dissolve immediately when you put them in your baby's mouth. They were my saving grace when my youngest was teething.

I've heard of it but never seen it or used it. Something I didn't see mentioned was benadryl. with one of my kids (I don't remember which one) my ped said to rub benadryl elixer on their gums and it has a numbing effect. It seemed to work as well as anything else. Fortunately both of my kids got through teething pretty easily.
