I had something similar happen to me a week after both c-section births. The only time in my life that it's happened but I couldn't see from research that others had the same problem post-pregnancy. Doctor prescribed a topical antibiotic the first time and the problem resolved itself within a week. The same treatment worked for me the second time as well. My finger tips especially around the nail edges were swollen then cracked and peeled. Definitely strange. I hope you can see a doctor asap, The numbness is concerning.

go to your doctor, asap. Do you have a family pracitioner or just an OB? Dont go to a chiropractor first, only if the doctor recommends it. Chiropractors are not doctors, they did not go to medical school.

My aunt had her toes go numb and waited a few weeks to go in, and she had to have immediate surgery due to blood clots in her leg and chest. I know that's worst case scenario, but it's not good when parts of your body go numb for extended periods of time.

I fell off my deck years ago and my C5-6 nerve was impinged so I live with chronic numbness and tingling. I do lots of exercises to get the feelings back. Putting a pillow in the pillowcase using your chin to hold the pillow actually gives your neck a really good stretch.

If you had a spinal for delivery it could be related to that. Your nerves all connect back to the spine. I would go to the Doc. If they really can't see you then what would they do if you had Pneumonia or something that needed to be treated right away???? They are not getting the idea that this may be an emergency.

I might call a Neurologist anyway, if you insurance requires a referral from your Primary care doc then call and tell them to give you one since you can't get in.

I googled finger numbness, dry peeling skin and got ton of posts about people having the same thing so It's not uncommon I guess but I would still make an appointment to get to the root of the issue of the numbness.

I have something called raynauds syndrome which causes my fingertips and occasionally my toes to go numb and turn purple. It usually happens when it's cold out or if I touch something cold like a cold glass of water. You could google it to see if it is similar to what you are experiencing. Usually warming my hands will make the numbness go away. And it's not really dangerous just annoying.

Good luck!

Hi N.:

I recommend consulting with a qualified alternative healthcare specialist to assist you with this. Did you have an epidural? Was there any health changes/challenges with your head or brain prior to, during, post pregnancy? These are just two of different health questions that should be answered within a consultation that would give more clarity to what you are experiencing.

Be well,

sounds either circulatory or something to do with nerve pressure. Call a chiropractor and get an opinion, a spinal adjustment just might do the trick.

This is not normal. You need to see your doctor. Call back and insist on being seen. It is probably not life threatening but it might be a virus or raynauds. Good luck.

I suggest that you call the doctor's office and ask this question. They may get you in sooner or at the very least reassure you that it's not serious. They could even know what's causing it just based on your description.
