has anyone has this procedure done? My GYN was telling me about it. I have started this year having issues with my cycle and after several attempts at diffrent BCP to regulate it, I am thinking about this .......the issue for me isnt heavy bleeding, it is not having periods....and so she said that if we did the novasure chances are that I will just totally stop having periods all together and not have to worry about them anymore. I was just wondering if any one had had this done and what your experience was with it. I am almost 35 and mother of 2,,,,,,not having anymore!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

WELL! thanks to everyone! I had a Dr appt on the 6th and had the novasure done on the 9th! I was in surgery at 130, out at 145 and awake at2, home by 4! Very fast procedure, the worst part for me was the whole anticipation and being so nervous! I had very mild cramping that day and thru the night, hardly any spotting,,,,maybe twice since and the next day took the kids on a hayride! I have a follow up this week but so far so good!

Boy, that sounds drastic. MDs are not very versed in dietary fixes to ANY problem, so I am wondering if you/your doctor have looked into nutritional "remedies"??? There is a book called, "Fertility, Cycles & Nutrition" by Marilyn Shannon that you might take a look at before you do any "procedure". You could probably "google it" to get a sense of if the info is there...

Just a thought, God Bless,

M.

I had it done in 2006. Would do it again in a second. It was a simple procedure. I had virtually no post op pain and was ready to go to a football game that evening. I had menstrual type cramps for a few hours but nothing to keep me down. My only issue has been that during my time of the month even though I am not bleeding I seem a little more moody. My doc said for some reason that does happen sometimes. I was 37 when I had it done and had just had both of my babies the year before and 2 years before so we were done too. I would recommend it without hesitation.

**Sorry, I was politely corrected that "Esure" and "Novasure" are not the same procedure!**

C.,
Nova Sure is the same as "Esure" -- right?
I was thinking about doing it as an alternative to my husband being 'snipped';however, I was approached with some disturbing evidence that made me never want to have it done. Have you read up on what they do that makes this 'work'? It involves scar tissue, to give you a heads up. Also, read up on the 'failure rate' of those who've done it for birth control procedure, but have had pregnancies after, and many people have had serious complications in general. It's still a very new procedure, from what I understand.
I think that Missy's wisdom of using nutritional remedies was right on. In fact, I can offer you evidence of this, and can let you talk to some people who've been there and are now doing great. I'll PM you for further info...

I do wish you the best with whatever decision you go for!

I had it done if Feb of this year. I will offer a different outlook on things, but keep in mind I am very different LOL. Like I said I had it done in Feb of this year after giving birth to twins in Nov. I did have the d&c as well. My results are not as good as the others BUT they are a lot better then what I was experiencing. I have numerous fibroids so that is the reasons I had it done. My period was unbelievable, to let you know how bad it was I was bleeding almost half a month. Since having it, it is a lot lighter but not gone at all. The first day I was fine came home and help take care of my children, my mom and dad were taking care of them for me until I got better. I must have over done things because the next day was in a great deal of pain. I am not sure if my results are because of the fact that I had given birth only a few months prior. I am happy that I had it done though and would recommend it to anyone. Just be warned that it may not take away your period. If it does that is great but don't be too bummed out if it does not, and be warned that you will be put to sleep. No one told me that until a few days before. Good luck and I wish you the best.

I had this done on June 30, 2008. I had such a great outcome from this. The procedure itself only took about 10 minutes. Of course you have the going to sleep and waking up and prep. I had very mild cramping, I have had period cramps worse than what I had after this procedure. I would recommend this procedure to everyone! My biggest complaint was that I was so so tired afterwards. I don't think I have ever been this tired in my entire life. I even got in the backseat and laid down on the way home. I figured it was because they give you something for nerves in your iv before the procedure, then the medicine that they put you to sleep with, and then I was also given something for my cramping (I think it was Vicodin) in recovery. All of this was given in such a short period of time (or atleast it seemed that way). The doctor told me to expect up to 4 months of spotting/bleeding/healing form the surgery. I just passed my normal time of the month and no spotting or bleeding and I am done healing, so for me it only took 2 months. If you want any more detailed information just email me. It is worth it! Goodluck.

I had this procedure done at the end of July. My sister had it done 5 years ago and reccommended it to me. I have had no problems whatsoever. There was virtually no pain the day of surgery and I went into work the next afternoon. I had slight spotting for a few days afterward but no bleeding. I have had two "cycles" since the procedure and they have consisted of a slight brownish discharge and that is it. I would do it if that is what your doctor reccommends.

I am 45 and have 2 boys ages 8 and 11. I work full time. I am married to a wonderful man and have three lovely step-daughters. As part of this large extended family, I also have 9 grandchildren! Needless to say, I won't be having anymore babies either...lol.

Hi C., I've had the novasure procedure done and it works great. What the doctor told you is true. It can stop your period all together. I've had it done for almost 3 yrs and I've had no problems since. If you doctor recommends it I would go for it if you don't want anymore children.

I just had this done last week so I can't tell you much except that there was virtually no recovery period. They also did a D&C and a scope so they put me out during the procedure. I took a pain med before I left the outpatient clinic and then too 4 OVC motrin about 5 hours later. That's it. No pain or complications. I still have a little bit of bleeding (barely enough to wear a pad) but it is also the week that I should have my period so it could be that. I think it's at least worth trying this procedure!

Good Luck,
C

C.,

I just had this procedure done Aug. 23 and everything went well. I am 50 and my problem was heavy bleeding and I haven't had any problems. It was a very easy surgery and the next day I couldn't tell I had anything done. That afternoon after the procedure I had some cramping, but that was it. I would recommend it to anyone. Hopefully I'm done with those monthly visitors. So easy - Go for it

HI C.,
I just had this done on April 14 and would recommend it in a second! I had not only heavy periods from days 1-4 but they lasted up to 10 days each month. I had an ultrasound to try to find out why and they couldn't understand why my cycles were like that..but they were and I was miserable. I am 36, and at the time had a 8 and 2 yr olds (they've since had birthdays..9 and 3 now, lol) and we are more than DONE!
I had a D&C too (my dr said it was routine with Novasure) and I was put to sleep. I was a little groggy when I woke up only because it was my first time but I was great. Like the others, I had menstrual type cramps for a day or two and some bloating as well but it was NOTHING compared to what I went through on a monthly basis. It is now Sept. 11 and NO MORE AF for me and I couldn't be happier. Like a previous poster, when it's "around that time", I get slightly bloated and a tad moody but no bleeding and no cramps anymore.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to email me. I was nervous at first and thought it over for a year (dr told me about it in Feb '07) but now after having it done, I so wish I would have just done it sooner, it is so worth it. Plus think of all the money I save on not having to buy pads, tampons or Midol ever again (well, till my dd needs them, lol).

Have you checked out their website too? It's novasure.com
Good luck,
S. :-)

I work at a surgery center and we do these procedures all of the time. Several of my co-workers have had the nova sure ablation done and have had great results. It is so much better than the previous thermachoice procedure for uterine ablation. Good luck!!
