I just googled the recipe... it has been around for a while, I remember eating some of it years ago!

Seriously I never doubted what you all have said about Christmas Crack being addictive because I have faith in you mammas! But I had to try it for myself and today was the day and OMG this stuff is great!! (And a lot cheaper than my almond roca that I have to have. Even my boys were trying to get extra pieces from me, but being the good mom that I am I told them no you can't until Christmas. As if! :)
So now my question: how many of you had never tried it and made it because of what you have read here? And became addicted or somewhat addicted?
To all you mommas a Very Merry Christmas!
Sure no problem!
Preheat oven to 400*
Line baking pan with foil and lightly butter. Lay out a package of saltine crackers on foil. In pan melt 1 cup butter and 3/4 cup brown sugar. Stir constantly until it starts to boil. Then continue stirring (using a whisk) while it boils for 4 minutes. Then pour onto saltines using spoon to spread evenly. Place in oven for 5 minutes. Take out and be careful because sugar mixture is almost boiling hot. Let cool for about 3 minutes then spread 1 package chocolate chips over saltines let melt about 2 minutes and spread evenly over saltines. Refrigerate until chocolate hardens. Then break into pieces, sample a few then break into more pieces and repeat sampling. Store in airtight container. Some recipes also mentions that once chocolate is spread you can add crushed peppermint candies or nuts. Enjoy!

I have never heard of this and must have missed the recipe., could you add it to your "What Happened?"
Oh damn, just when I thought I was done baking...
;)
I didn't know what you were talking about until I saw the recipe. My husband makes this every year and I eat more than my fair share (to say the least). It is SO good!
Oh dear, did I start this with my "Am I the only one who does this?" post? I didn't know it was called Christmas Crack!
After the initial devouring of 1/4 of the pan on day one, I am happy to report there is still a little left. My husband has discovered he does like toffee after all. Bad for him, but good for my skinny jeans!!
That's some good stuff, a friend introduced me to it, so i can't credit mamapedia, but i'm sure there is something someone on here suggested that i tried, can'tthink off the top of my head. But just had to say how yummy it tis.
ooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh my word!!! this sounds delish!!
have you ever tried it with graham crackers instead of saltines?
thanks for sharing!!
Never heard of it before but I will certainly try it!
never heard, never tried, but will.
ooohhh this sounds yummy. I wonder if it would work with graham crackers as well. You would think I would have saltines on hand being preggers and all but all I have are Ritz crackers and graham crackers!
I made it yesterday and I am having a hard time staying out of it!! :)
Oh, man, I never heard it being called Christmas Crack, but that is a GREAT name for it. Stuff's ridiculously easy to make and totally addictive!
we are going to my mom's to finish up our cookies ( damn oven is broke.. perfect timing!!) and I think this is going to have to go on our list!
Sounds really good.
Jessica T. I remember you posting it also... glad you left some for the others! Lets hope I have that strength! lol
** I just showed my 15 yr old how to make it and he said it sounds fattening... good but fattening. I think we need to try it lol **
Thanks for sharing....I love sweet & salty treats...but will probably throw on some nuts.
