Hello, I'm always tired. And I can't seem to drop any weight even though I watch what I eat and I am Active. I have been irratible with my son and husband lately and can't figure out why. Which is not normal for me. Usually i'm happy go lucky always smiling and laughing. I feel like I can't even drag myself out of bed. Does anyone know of anything that might wake me up a little and make me feel better?

Thanks(:

So What Happened?

Thank you all for al your responses!! Unfortunately I dont have health insuance and I live in NH where you have to be diabled to get medicare or medicaid. My son has NH healthykids so he's covered. My husband is in the military and the VA covers him but becuse he's not active duty, Triare wont cover me or our child. Wich I think to put it simply is BULLSHIT. H'es already beent o iraq and back but totally diffeent subject. Anyways, I dont have any, and I caleld a clinic who did a sliding scale and it woul still be way to expensve, and then to top it if I need a perscription, I'd pay the full amount. So I think i'll take eveyrones advice and try to find an over the counter aprouch maybe or just try to get some alone only me time once a week. Thankyou so much again!!!

I felt the same way. And I agree it could be depression. The best thing to do is talk to you doctor. I didn't know what was wrong with me either until it got so bad and then I talked to the doctor. It could also be something else though to low iron or something silly.

Good luck and don't make the same mistake I did and wait to feel better.

Hi Melissa,
Sorry to hear you're not feeling yourself lately. I have gone throughthe same thing off and on myself. I myself am usually very outgoing, happy-go-lucky and am positive about almost anything, but I had noticed the same symptoms in myself as you describe and I was diagnosed with depression. I refuse to take any medication for it because I don't react well with most meds. I have begun to notice when I feel this way and I have to sit down and think about the events in my life and what might be causing it and then work my way through it. My suggestion would be to talk to your doctor and see what he has to say. depression is a tough thing to work through on your own, being able to talk to someone helps as well. My support has always been my little sister so when I feel like I am getting that blue feeling, I always try to sit down and talk to her. Most of the time just talking to someone makes me feel better. I hope this helps you. A.

Try exercise. Something like yoga works well to work all the muscles and then relax them. Do something that will impress yourself, that's the only way to beat depression.

I've been there. Chin up.

I would go see your regular Doctor. My daughter is 14 mths. old and I still don't feel back to normal yet. It's hard to be a Mom period, never mind being a Woman who is a Mom, you know what I mean. Crazy hormones, different body, all your energy going to the baby, etc... I wouldn't let it go, call the Doc A.S.A.P. if I were you. Good luck.

Have you been to your doctor? They can run tests to see if there is anything physically wrong, such as an underactive thyroid, and can ask questions to see if you have symptoms of depression. They can help you figure out whats going on. Good luck.

Melissa,
I had the same symptoms. Have your thyroid checked. Mine was way off and I nursed too. So the weight should have come off more easily. It is a simple blood test and can be treated with medicine. I dropped 10 lbs after being on the meds for just one week. Good luck!

I suffered from this for almost three years before finally figuring out that I have sleep apnea. It got really bad when I gain weight while pregnant with my second child and just got worse and worse. When I went to doctors and told friends and family that I was just so tired, they all told me that I was depressed. I knew that wasn't it. So finally after feeling like I just couldn't go on any longer being so tired I went to the sleep lab at Kent County Hospital and had an overnight sleep study. They hooked me up to all sorts of machines and wires and the like and found out that I stopped breathing 124 times during that seven hour period. And the longest I went without waking up was 16 minutes. No wonder I was tired! And cranky and iritable and depressed and lethargic and unmotivated. I went back for a second study and was fitted with a CPAP mask. What this does is sends air in to the back of my throat all night long so my throat doesn't close and I don't stop breathing. It has literally been a life saver for me. I have had it now for three and a half weeks and I feel sooooo much better. I wake up ready to face the day and the world. People are commenting on how much better I am looking. From my skin tone to the bounce in my step. I have already lost five pounds (which has seemed impossible to do up until now) and my husband keeps telling me that I'm the old E. again.
Sleep deprivation is a terrible thing. The cost of the test is usually covered by insurance and it doesn't hurt anything to go. I actually thought I got a pretty good night sleep when I went, ha!
Don't let this go. Find out what's wrong. Doctors tend to sweep us under the rug and make us feel like everything is in our heads and it's not. Keep fighting until you find the answer! Good Luck!

Dear Melissa,
Sorry to hear you are not feeling yourself. Pregnancy and child birth are very hard on our internal organs. I see lots of good advice here about THYROID malfunction, and that is a good place to start looking for answers. Many symptoms can be accredited to Hypo-Thyroidism (thyroid not producing enough of the hormones that regulate MANY bodily functions). There can be a wide variety of unpleasant symptoms, including, inability to lose weight, emotional disturbances, depressions, fatigue, hot and cold flashes, sleep disturbances, and others.
Please see your doctor and have some testing done. Make a LIST of ALL your symtoms, even if they don't seem very important or bothersome. Your physician can only work on the information you provide. The best patients are the ones who take an active role in their own care.
Good luck and I hope you are feeling better soon!

Schedule a visit to your doctor to rule out a thyroid problem. That's what it sounds like to me especially if this is not your usual pattern of behavior. Good luck.

it could be a sign of depression too. you should talk to your docotr. alot of women suffer from seasoanl depression (usually winter) and aren't even aware of the symptoms, but you recognize that something about yourself doesn't feel right and that is a good sign. i would definately call your doctor because you deserve to be happy and so does your family.

Melissa,
Sorry you have been feeling down lately. This ALL sounds like depression. I have had the same thing. Curious to how old your son is? Post partum depression can show up as late as 1 year after baby is born. Oh as far as weight goes...I didnt really drop any weight untill both my children were about 15 months old and then some! Good luck!

Have you had your thyroid tested? I felt the same way and then I had a physical and found out that my thyroid wasn't working right. It was too slow. Which caused me to be very tired, unable to lose weight and slightly irritable. Talk with your doctor.

definitely see a doctor; yes, thyroid sounds liek a big culprit. i have similar symptoms and finally they found a thyroid lump.

but be careful, the endocrinologist I was sent to told me she just wanted to wait and see and so mine has not yet been treated. I met another mom with a similar problem, she had seen the same endo, been told the same thing--but her primary sent her out for a second opinion. The other endo, based in boston, took the lump out right away. She is doing much better.

I am planning to go out for a second opinion and push to get this thing removed. Let me know if you get sent to an endo, I would be happy to let you know the name of the quack i saw so you can save yourself some time and avoid her.
