Grandma bought my girls a nook tablet for Christmas. I've never used one, any helpful hints, things I should know, or things they would like on it? Thanks!

What can I do next?

Gidget gave you some good information but added in here, the trick to finding free stuff is in the shop search line put 0.00 kids or 0.00 apps that will bring up all the free stuff. And get them a case for it !!! very important , GET A CASE and the accidental damage warranty !

Most important thing: Get a hard case for it ASAP!

It depends on which version, as some have limits to what you can do. I only have experience with the B&W and the Color(I think) versions.
Is it a NOOK Color? Goto the B&N Website and d/l the manual(if you haven't already), and also check out the free kids books--they have tons for kids, and interactive books for the Color tablet. Goto NOOK for kids, and select price range at $0 to find the freebies.

You also want Kid's Place:

It's a Parental control for NOOK, like the Kindle's Free time, but not quite as flexible, yet still a must to protect you and your munchkins from the occasional accidental purchase.

Get a hard case, and use Kid's Place (and remember the password, lol. I felt like a dummy as I tried to get out of it one day! I use it on my Kindle.)

There are lots of free games and free books you can download through Barnes and Noble. Every Friday they offer a free book - I don't always care for the selection, but I've downloaded a few of them.

Many of the kids games are $2.99 or less. The kids books are a bit more expensive, but they often have a "read to me" option.

I have a Nook Color, so there are some options on the Nook Tablet that I don't have. There is a video you can watch to learn more about all the Tablet can do:

Just play with it. You'll be fine.

How old are you girls. I have a Nook color and my 12 yo and 9 yo figured out how to use it before I did. There is a tutorial that you can find, I think, in the books section for the basic way to use it.
