I understand missing your husband. for the "bumps" you could try a white noise generator or something to cover up the normal house noises. an alarm system might also ease your mind.
I am feeling very fragile today. My husband has been staying out of town for work Mondays through Fridays. Normally, it's no big deal and my kids and I can get through the week okay on our own. This week seems to be harder. I'm not sleeping, for one. I'm hearing strange clicks and bumps and I'm freaking myself out at nights. Why can't I be rational at 3 in the morning enough to catch some zzzs? It doesn't help that a couple of the posts I've responded to here with the Mammas has made me very weepy and longing for my husband. I am missing him terribly.
What do you do to keep your mind on the sane side in a situation like this?

Soft quiet nature sounds music can be relaxing and help covering the noises.
On a deeper level, rational can explain the emotions but can't always help to overcome them. Meditate or pray, whatever suits you best, focus on that whatever happens, there will always be a solution.
I got an alarm system. I had big problems sleeping.
{{{hugs}}} J. - sorry no advice here but missing your DH is totally understandable in your situation, and IMO lotsa people would have a hard time being rational at 3 am and getting back to sleep (It's hard enough to fall back asleep even when my DH is right there with me!). Wish I had some more helpful suggestions
