My son is 15 months old. We recently switched his night time bottle to whole milk ( no more Formula). He is waking up every two hours hungry. My husband and I are getting no sleep. He drinks regular milk during the day 1 bottle before nap and rest in his big boy sippy cup. I don't know what to do. Any advice from other mom would be great!!! by the way he is a very picky eater.

What can I do next?

He should not be night feeding at 15 months, mine stopped this at 2 months. Babies wake at night to eat at older ages, not because they are truly hungry or need to eat, but because that is what we have trained them to do. Now you have to re-train him to do what he should be doing at night, which is sleep. If he wakes, give him a chance to self sooth (like 5 minutes). If he does not, than go in and comfort him, but not with food. Having a bottle in bed at this age is going to rot his teeth. Just sit with him until he is calm. It may take a few nights for him to understand and adjust to the change, but it will be well worth it.

There is such a thing as toddler Formula....

Or, make his bottles with half Formula and half milk.

My son was a VERY picky eater... and his Doc said that his milk can be mixed with the Toddler Formula.... to transition him. And this was after he was 1 years old, too.

Also, 15 months old is a growth spurt time. So any weaning... ideally... should be done at a timing, where a growth-spurt is not happening. Or they get hungrier.
Growth-spurts...are not a real good 'timing' for weaning or taking things away....

all the best,
Susan

If you can, get some foods rich in fats, fiber, and protein in him. At this age, my son would really only eat casseroles. I could get him to eat meat and veggies, if it were covered in cheese and flavors. The best thing anyone told me, was to not be afraid of flavor. My son didn't really like food, until I made it more flavorful. He loves garlic onion, paprika...etc. Now, at 19 months, he loves spicy food like salsa. I would kick the flavor up for him and see if that works. If he loves cheese cover some meat and veggies in cheese. Make things crispy. I would make "chicken nuggets." I dipped chicken in yogurt and then in breadcrumbs and baked it. My son loves to dip. Give him some green beans, snow peas, or other veggies and hummus. He can eat anything you are. He might be picky, because he's bored with food!!

Is he getting enough solids during the day? If not, the old trick was to put baby cereal in the warm milk for something to 'stick' to the ribs. I personally did not end up with picky eaters.. This is what we are eatting.. sorry .. have a glass of water, believe me they will not starve. My 4 kids ate many ethnic foods starting from real young. If you start indulging and making different meals for different folks etc. you are creating your own monster and they will drive you crazy! This is from a kid that wanted milk so bad i would hold my breath and pass out until my mother took me to the Dr and the doctor said to let me pass out, as soon as I do, my normal functions will resume. It is a test of wills... you will get thru it.. smile.

Rice cereal in a bottle can work wonders. My chubster would do the same thing. We ended up mixing rice cereal into her nighttime bottle, thickening it up. You'll probably have to make the hole in the bottle bigger so the rice cereal can get through. But once we started doing that she immediately started sleeping 6 hours, then 8, then all night. Best of luck to you! It's so hard when they aren't sleeping.

We had a simular problem with more than one child! We solved it by feeding a bowl of solids in the middle of the night. Our family fav is macaroni (although any solid would work), so I would make sure I had a bowl of left overs in the fridge before bed everynight and when they woke up the first time hungry I would warm it up and they would eat until they were full and then drop right off and sleep the rest of the night. All 4 of our boys are in their teens now and are doing great! They have no issues from their toddler midnight eating!!!

Give him a snack before he goes to bed. Are you sure he's actually hungry and not just getting into the habit of waking up?
