My 13 month old will drink water in a straw cup and will drink whole milk in a bottle but she will not drink milk in a staw cup or sippy cup? I have tried many different cups and she still wont take it- any ideas???

What can I do next?

Here's what you do: offer water in a bottle or milk/juice in a straw/sippy cup. Then it will be her decision. What child would choose water over milk or juice, even if it is in a bottle? Try it and let me know. She should be broke off the bottle in no time!

Add chocalate or strawberry to her milk :) You can purchase the powder, which has extra vitamins, etc.... Good Luck :)

It sounds like for some reason she associates milk with only coming out of a bottle. Have you tried diluting the milk with water and putting it in the sippy cup/straw cup? Maybe you can try changing her gradually to the other cup. Use just a little milk in the water first and keeping moving until it's 100% milk. It may be too much for her to go straight to the milk in the "new" cup. I'm guessing she rejects it right away by just seeing it in the cup, smelling it, or by the first little sip. God bless!

Get rid of the bottles and keep trying, it won't take long, a day or two MAX, and she will take the cup with milk in it. Once she realizes bottles are no longer offered, she will take milk from the cup.

I had the same problem until I found the Nuby cups. The spout is soft like a bottle nipple.

Try a regular cup. It will be messy and you will have to help, but it might save you the headache later of weaning from the sippy cup later.

I mix it up with my daughter and she will now drink out of whatever I give her. She is now 18 months and can drink well from regular cups, loves cups with straws, and will use sippy cups in the car.

You can also try dinking from the cup like it is yours, then set it within her reach, my guess is, she will try to be like mommy.

Put the milk in the sippy cups only. And the water in the bottle only. Soon she will only go for where the milk is.

I agree with the others. Nuby is a good first sippy cup. But please, don't add flavoring to the milk! If she's drinking the milk from the bottle, then she likes the milk. She doesn't need to start drinking it with flavors or she might want it flavored all the time! Keep offering the milk to her in the cup. She will learn! :)

We had the same problem with one of our granddaughts. She Would Not take mike from a sippy cup or staw either. We let her take milk for the bottle a little longer till about 18 months I think. Then we just took the bottle away, she cried and cried and refused the cup for a week or so, she would drink water and nothing else she would eat a lot of baby food then finaly she started drinking milk from a sippy cup. Out daughter tired every cup she could find and nothing worked. Dr. said just take the bottle away and she will take the cup even if it takes some time that she will be ok as long as she is drinking water and eating, and she was. But she was sad, because of no bottle. So maybe let you child go a little longer on bottle and then cut her off. God Bless B. A.

If you haven't tried the Nuby cup, try that one. It has a soft top which is like a bottle. My son did really well with that one. Good luck!
