If you are not allergic to bees try Royal Jelly in pill form. When I had my son I had no energy also. I started taking this and it helped. Try taking at least 1,000 ml a day. It comes in capsules, you can get it at GNC and most health food stores. I hope this helps!

Try tanning a couple of times. It doens't have to be for very long in fact you should only tan for about 7 minutes if you are light the first couple of times. I occassionally tan every couple of weeks in the winter. It helps keep the blues at bay. Something about the light and it feels like you are actually warm (inside and out) for the first time since summer ended. Hope you feel better

HI I do not have any little ones around anymore but I too have been so tired, weak. I do have fibromyalgia and this is a sign but recently I found that I am on the edge of diabetes. Watching my carbs has helped me to feel better and I am not eating nearly as much sugar. I think the sugar was also working on me. Good luck K.

Hi C.,

You may very likely be able to solve this by upgrading your food choices. I have a client who experienced the same thing and within six weeks she had energy all day and her endurance during her cardio work outs increased significantly according to her trainer. Try reducing refined sugar/flour and artificial ingredients and add a lot more veggies (especially green) and fruit along with the right fats and amount of protein. If you'd like more info I'd be happy to help (I will not try and sell you anything -promise!). A great book I give all my clients is Refined Food to Real Food by Allison Annesar. You may be able to get it from the library even.

Dear C.,

Depression is a tough problem because it can have a million different causes. First approach is to get your body checked. I don't think a regular DR is the way to go because they don't have the time to really play detective and figure out what is wrong. You need Columbo in a white coat.

There is such a person and his name is Dr. Merkle. He is a chiropractor and Certified Clinical Nutritionist. His testing is very through and from it he will help you get back to peak performance which will make you feel better. All without meds and their side effects. He does it by blood and other tests so there is no need to travel to Dayton. His web site is www.3000health.com and a good place to start are the case histories and the radio shows. You can listen to him live on the radio (Sat at 11:00 WHIO 1290/95.7 or on the net) or download old shows and listen at home.

I know he has helped several of my friends from things that were really serious and long term. Becky had ulcerative colitis (sp?) for a long time (40 years) and in 6 weeks he had it under control. She was a nurse and none of the doctors had a clue. I have a copy of one of the radio shows that isn't in the archive which looks like your problem - a girl with Chronic Fatigue. She had a lot of problems but when Dr. Merkle got her diet fixed up wonderful things happened. If you can take a big file send me an e-mail (____@____.com) and I'll send you the file.

His office is 937 433-341.

God Bless,

S.

p.s. If you drink/eat anything with NutraSweet or any artificial sweetner, cut it out. Same with white flour/rice/sugar/high frutcose corn syrup. Drink lots of pure water (tap water has stuff in it that isn't good for you or your kids) and try to eat as little processed/caned food as possible. It may help but it will not hurt.

It sounds like there is a source that it is coming from and you caycare needs to check all kids and treat her home to get rid of it all. The daycare also must be sure that they do not allow any children to attend if they have eggs or lice until treated and rid of it.

You need to talk to your doctor. It could be a lot of things. He will do a history and probably do blood work. I was diagnosed with a low thyroid in between child 2 and 3. ANd then after child 4 a hyper thyroid. After they put me on meds I then realized that I had been tired all the time and it was not normal. I have been in remission for a year now and have been able to stay off my meds. Eventually I'll end up on synthoid for the rest of my life. Adrenal fatigue can also cause problems like that so that is why blood work is needed. Good luck to you.

You need to see a dr. Don't jump to meds immediately. You may not be sleeping well (whether or not you think you are) or you may be depressed. If it's depression, see a therapist first and then try meds. If it's a sleep disorder, there are things you can do. In the meantime, make sure you have good "sleep hygiene" and are eating well. Best of luck, call the dr. asap.

Welcome to what I describe as depression. No motivation. I force myself to shower every other day.
For me, depression is not sad, crying, wanting to die, etc. The things that typically ppl think of when thwy here the word depression.
My mom is a big help, she comes over about 3 times a week (we live on the same block) and mays sure that I am cleaning my house, paying my bills, showering, etc. I also take meds for it, which do help with the snapping at my children.
Talk to your DR ASAP. Depression can get worse very quickly.
Good Luck and keep your head up... you will get through this.

I also get this way in the winter time. Just feel like everythings piling up and not wanting to do anything! I make sure on a sunny day I have the blinds open letting the sun in I try not to sit in the dark. One thing that has really helped me is that I have to get up at 5:30 every morning with a friends children that I watch, They start my day by smiles, laughing and I get to sit there with them for a hour before I get my kids up watching cartoons and enjoying them. That has really helped my winter time blues. Last winter I would go days without answering the phone, getting dressed. So far that hasn't happened this winter. I would talk to your Dr and see if they have any advice. Sometimes meds work but I have also seen them just mask the issue. Good Luck!!

Eating right, spinach, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower. And young women need protein and B-12, which you get from meat. Vitamin tablets just don't work as well as the real food, so make sure you are not skimping on food.

Second: Exercise. Start out with 15 minutes a day. You can jog in place or run around the house or do an aerobic workout. Keep at it and after about 1.5-2 weeks you will start to notice a difference. Also, nap when the kids nap. Your a mom of young kids, tired is normal.

Please make an appointment with your doctor to find out what is going on.

Are you eating well? Exercising? Do you have an inordinate amount of stressors? Do you have a supportive partner helping you to raise the kids or take care of the home?

Before you go the 'I need meds' route, please let a qualified and educated medical professional evaluate you to determine what's going on. It's true, you could need medication for depression or a chemical/hormonal issue or you could need some lifestyle adjustments. And, avoid any of these homecooked remedies (take this pill, try this food, do this wacky headstand) UNTIL you have been evaluated by someone who does this for a living!

Make that appointment now. Don't be embarrassed. Doctors deal with this sort of thing all the time. If you can't do it for yourself, do it for the sake of your children.

C.--it sounds very familiar to me and it sounds like you are depressed. Now, I have no idea whether you need medication and I would certainly never start there, but maybe begin to write a journal and see where you fill unfulfilled in your life and perahps identifying that will assist you in steps towards coping or dealing. Also, finding a counselor/therapist or going to a good old friend whom you could trust with the ugliest of stories or fears or finding a new friend with whom you could confide. I pray for your healing, good for you for talking about it, there is nothing wrong with being depressed.

You'll be AMAZED at what proper exercise and nutrition will do for you mentally AND physically! Make SURE you're feeding your body & brain what they need to function properly.

Sluggishness is usually a result of toxicity, lack of hydration, lack of exercise, and/or a poor diet. Enzymes (found in fruits & vegetables) are the electromagnetic energy in your body. Water is required for EVERY function in your body. Maybe you should read YOUR BODY'S MANY CRIES FOR WATER. Meds should be a last resort! Not worth the side effects......PARTICULARLY when a change can come about thru a little effort to change.

Don't worry C. - of course you are tired! If you are being a good mom, then you are tired. I have been there. I had two girls 13 months apart and between a postpartum depression and a husband that traveled all the time, I too was tired! And when energy became an issue my doctor asked me if I was exercising. "Excercising?!" I exclaimed. Very funny I thought - like I have TIME to exercise. But you know what? She wrote a prescription for me to exercise for 30 min. three times a week and she was RIGHT! As soon as I got some good endorphins going and started moving, my energy improved. And guess what? A mom that takes care of herself is a happier mom and is a good role model to her children.
I hope this helps.

You've gotten so many good responses, and they're all right. It could be a million things causing this- depression, low iron, not getting restful sleep at night, the weather/time change, thyroid, sleep disorder, etc. The best thing you could do, for you and your family, is make an appt to figure out what's causing this and finding a solution. I went through a period where I was sleeping all the time, even at work. Driving even became dangerous because my eyes would cross from fighting to stay awake. My doctor sent me to a neurologist. After going through a sleep study, it was determined that I have idiopathic hypersomnia (excessive daytime sleepiness). Not quite narcolepsy, but very similar. I now take medication to keep me awake and life is so much better. After having my daughter, I was really trying to stay off the meds, but it just didn't work. My boss thought I hated my life and thought I was severely depressed because of the way I looked (very tired) and acted all the time. Don't waste anymore time being unhappy when there's help out there. Good luck!

Hi C., I get this way at this time of the year (December - January). Coupled with the holidays, I feel worn out. I did some reading and found out that many people suffer from mild to severe SAD (Seasonal Affect Disorder). It has something to do with there being less sunlight this time of the year and it directly affects your hormones and mood and you can suffer from mild, seasonal depression and exhaustion. To help me, I had my husband install several of the brighter lights which mimic natural sunlight, and I have tried to exercise more. If you go to your doctor, you might want to ask her this. Good luck to you! A.

Hi C. ~

I agree with Deb K (below) completely! Nutrition and exercise makes a huge difference in our energy levels and well being.

I see that you're in the Columbus area. I recommend seeing Dr. Sandra Pinkham for a consultation. She's listed in the phone book (on Riverside Dr.). She really understands the chemistry of the human body and treats all conditions with a naturopathic approach first. Her advice has changed my life, and I feel better than I have in about 20 years (I'm in my 50s). If you see Sandy, follow her advice to the letter for two weeks, and see if you don't feel at least 75% better in that time. I noticed significant improvement after the first three days and I've never looked back.

Medication can be a dangerous thing. I've been seeing more and more stories about drug companies recommending products for "off label" use, which means that a drug they developed for one purpose is now being recommended for other purposes. As a matter of fact, just yesterday Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals was fined something like 1.4 billion for its off label sales practices with one of their drugs. The side effects were weight gain, diabetes, and heart disease. It was the largest corporate settlement in U.S. history! Oddly enough, the drug in question was being recommended for depression, sleeplessness, etc., when it was originally designed to treat one very specific type of bipolar disorder. You could have ended up on that drug if you had gone looking for meds to help with your problem.

Sorry to have gone on for so long about that, but it's worth remembering. The drug companies have very good sales reps who educate the doctors on the medications, and if they wast to play Science Experiment with the public, all they have to do is say they've discovered "off label" benefits and ~ lookie there! ~ they've increased their sales by billions of dollars. Stick to a natural approach as often as you can.

You should definitely make an appointment with your primary care doctor and bring this up. It could be depression, a thyroid disorder, or something else entirely. But if it's unusual for you AND interfering with your function, then you owe it to yourself and your family to figure out what's wrong. You'll thank yourself later :)
