Hi Mamas!

Does anyone out there have a wii fit that they use as part of their exercide routine? Does it help you keep on track? Does it make you want to work out? Has anyone lost any weight just by using the wii fit and eating right?
I am in a wedding in 9 months and would like to lose a little weight to look better in my dress. I am hoping to find something that will inspire me and keep me interested in working out...especially on those days when I would rather sit and veg.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I would love to hear them.

Thank you!
J.

I bought Wii Fit about 6 months ago and find it to be really fun and easy to motivate to do. Once I start it's hard to stop. 45 minutes flies by. I find that it helps with my balance and according to Dr. Oz balance is a very important aspect of staying young. I would suggest doing more of the running on Wii Fit if you want to burn more calories. You'll find that it's alot of fun and your kids may enjoy doing it too.

FYI, to lose weight for your wedding you might try having a protein shake for breakfast and adding 3 tablespoons of flax oil. It will keep you healthy and burn fat.

Have fun!

They've actually done some studies looking at "exergaming" using the wii and "dance dance revolution" (DDR). If you're looking for a cardiovascular workout, go for DDR rather than wii - it's a much better workout. Aside from that advice I can't help much, but they key to keeping up a fitness routine is to (1) set realistic expectations (like work out 2-3 times/week instead of every day) (2) do something fun and/or with a partner and (3) consider signing up for an event (like a 5-k road race) as a goal. There's nothing like registering for a fun run to motivate you to train. Congrats on the wedding!

J., I am a runner who was looking for something to do during the cold. I got a WII Fit. Yes, hard to find. I like it but it isn't all that great for a GOOD workout. They really break you in slowly. But I do feel like it is working and I love the fact that you get a Body mass index and weight all the time. Once you get better at it new options open up. For example, I have a free step and run option where I can start it up, then keep going after I change the channel and watch a favorite tv show. I did a 30 minute step routine yesterday while watching a football game. the time does fly by and I do enjoy it but for a real workout I still have to go out and run.

I just got the Wii for Christmas from my husband (I wanted it) and we have been playing it every night. It DOES give me a workout and I was breaking a sweat while playing tennis with him. And, I'm reasonably athletic. :)

The Wii Fit was impossible to find, but we got it yesterday and I set it up and tried it last night. Awesome. I did the exercises and some are fun and others are truly a work-out. I'm looking forward to using it as often as possible. I'm shooting for every night as soon as the boys go to bed. 40 minutes for me and then hubby and I can play together. He loves it, too.

It got us from our "vegging on the couch watching TV" mode after the boys went to bed to interacting, laughing and getting OFF our butts!

My sister and BIL came over for New Years and played it...they are now on their own search to find it. Lol.

Congrats on your wedding.
