The games for DSi are the same as DS and the 3DS would have to have all new games so limitation there. I would go for the DSi or DSiXL which is a little bigger, with a bigger screen. They have been dropping prices lately to get more people to buy plus they are upgrading their Wii to come out next year I think so I would watch the sales.

If you don't want them to have access to the internet, I wouldn't buy the DSi...

I would buy another DS...we love ours!!!

I personally didn't like the 3D one and one of my GFs son traded his DSi in for it and it made him dizzy and he ended up not liking it.

GOOD LUCK!!

my daughter has the dsi xl & loves it, i believe the ds games fit into it as well...she can take pics with it & i loaded her mp3's on it too...there are also downloadable games which are good prices for a small treat when you aren't wanting to spend for a full price game

I would get the 3DS because every time they roll out a new version they stop making games for the older versions. So by next summer you won't be able to buy the newer cool games for anything but the 3DS.

I know the 3DS is probably really great, but mine like the DSI because it can take pictures and there are a lot of games already on the market for it. The 3 DS is newer - not many games yet and I would bet that the games are a bit more pricey!

Skip the video games. Thier visual systems are not developed enough to handle this type of activity. It causes much confusion and anxiety to the central nervous system. Lots of electro magnetic radiation coming off these devices as well! They are not safe. Just because they want them, they don't know what is dangerous to thier minds and bodies.

Not the 3d's.
Those things, are bad on the eyes... ie: on the developing eyes of a child.

My son has the 3DS and loves it. Not a lot of 3-D games out yet, though. The regular DS sells for $99 at Target and other places, so I wouldn't pay to fix your daughter's. My son also had the DSi and liked that because it would take photos. If you're upgrading, I'd spend the money on the 3DS.

In response to S.H., no the 3DS is not bad for the eyes. See this article. http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/new-hand-held-3d-...

I'd personally just pay to get it repaired. Spend Christmas money on a few new games and something else they might like.
