My six year old is going to get a Nintendo dsi this year, I was thinking to get him a dsi XL, are the XL ones bigger or to big for little hands? I know the screen is bigger, but is the whole handheld device bigger, too?
Thanks,:)

My sons (5 and 6) prefer the XL, they like the bigger screen. It is not too big for little hands.

The XL is definitely bigger, I bought one for my 7 1/2 year old for Xmas this year, she's had the normal DS for 2 years now. It was displayed @ Toys r Us & there is definitely a size difference, maybe you can take your child to Toy r Us or Best Buy, anywhere where they have it on display & ask him to grip it & see how he does with it. The manufacturers recommended age is 6 years +, but if you look at customer reviews they recommend it for 8 years +.

always go for the newest technology.....it holds its value longer & will have more games available in the long run. This comment is coming from 20 years of buying electronics for my children.

go for the XL!!

We have both. My 4y plays with both. Yes the XL device is a bit larger, but the controls are the same size. The screen does make a world of difference.
