Too bad you didn't know before Black Friday. Wally had them for $98, and that's where I got the one for my son.

I did buy his GBA from GameStop. It has been great! He's had it for a year and a half and it's still going well. I did buy the 1 year warranty with it, but never had to use it.

Good Luck!

Yes! We bought a used PSP for my 8 yo son (he's had it now about a year) and a used DS for my 5 yo son (he's had it since July). I did purchase the 1 year warranty (I think it was $20), but have never had to use it! They check the systems out before selling them. Look at what they have, some will be in a better condition (exterior wise: cracks, scratches, screws tightened, bright screen) than others. I know when we looked at the DS's, my gamestop salesman rejected one because the picture wasn't coming through as good as the others... the Rockwall sales people are great!!! Had a screen gone out on us, we would have had the warranty! No warranties through Craigs List - beware! You save about $30-$40 buying used at Gamestop.

You can probably get just as good a deal at walmart - they have some bundle deals online... I think gamestop is overpriced for used games and systems!

I personally havent' bought one, but a close friend has bought a couple from there and never had problems - other than her son leaving it at school.

I would recommend the Gamestop in Ridgmar mall. I have bought 2 used ds lights. I also got the warranty on them, which if something goes wrong with the ds, they replace it with another used one. Ask them any and all questions you have. I asked which one would be better for an 8 year, and was told both the ds and dis lite would handle good and withstand a small drop.

a couple of years i bought a used nintendo ds from them and they gave a year of warranty with them in where I did not had any problems with it the whole year just a few months got broken because my 2yr old was messing with it, but I went to the nintendo website and you can get it fixed with little money and they give you warranty again. So I would reccomend it.

I've shopped at GameStop but never bought anything that has been used.

My daughter had a pink DS (we searched high and low one yr for it) and she loved it.

My brother's teens love GameStop and buy used games all the time. Actually, they are getting GameStop gift cards this year.

I will say that I had a good experience at the GameStop in Frisco. Last year, I bought the Band Hero that had the drums, and works. When daughter set it up, the drums did not work. I sent the symbol to the manufacturer as directed by GameStop and when I got the replacement, it did not work either. The manager at GameStop ended up giving me a complete new set and took the other one back, returned it to the manufacturer as defective.

Technically, he is not supposed to take things back. He said he did it because we had to deal with a non working holiday set for 2 months. He didn't have to go above and beyond like he did. Most places would never have that type of customer service.

Good Luck

Get to know your Game Stop! They are usually very good at recommending & helping with the games both used & new. They have exchanged out non working used games that we purchased before. You do need to test them soon after purchase & notify the store if they aren't working. We use them a lot. We have also bought a used XBox at a Pawn shop. The Pawn shop runs test on the equipment. The one we bought 2 years ago is still running well. We have friends that bought brand new that same Christmas and 1 of the machines has been sent in for Warranty repairs twice & 1 stopped working all together the week after the warranty expired. You just don't know about electronic games. The less money spent the better in this moms book. ;)

My son has bought several items from GameStop used. They test the item before they buy them.

I know it sounds cheap, but I have gotten so that I only buy the used games from the because if it doesn't play they will replace it no hassle as well as it is considerably cheaper than buying it new.

Good Luck and Merry Christmas.

We discovered GameStop last year when our boys started playing video games - and we love 'em. Although we've never purchased actual gaming systems from GameStop, we know plenty of other that have and have had little to no problems with the systems. We usually buy all of our boys' games used from there. To validate what some of the others have proclaimed, the customer service is truly awesome for this technical day and time. The employees are mainly teens or young adults, obviously "gamer" types, very laid back and would rather give you a new "whatever" and make you happy and keep you coming back.

I am not sure how old your daughter is, but I would check if they have a warranty you can purchase. If not then I would probaby buy it from a store that you could get an extended warranty. My daughter is 4 and hers has been dropped so many times that the warranty is a must.

T.,
We let our son who is 7, buy a used ds from GameStop this summer, and it works great. So much cheaper than the new ones. His looks brand new. You can also get used games there really cheap. If you child tries the game and doesn't like they have no problem with you bringing it back. Have a blessed day!
