This may seem like a commonsense question but I am wondering whether to risk waking my baby up at night to change her diaper. She is 4 1/2 months old and just started sleeping more, getting up only once. However, the past two nights her diaper leaked. Aside from going up a size in diapers (she is about 14 lbs. 12 oz. and the diapers go up to 15 lbs.) or changing the brand (currently using the Costco brand:Kirkland), should I change her diaper when she is sleeping? Thanks. New mom in Dallas.

I've learned that the size on the package doesn't mean much, atleast with my children. My nine month old is 25 lbs, so "should" fit in a size 4 for awhile; however, the 5s fit her sooo much better.
I do change her diaper at night when I can feel it's wet. She's sensitive to the wetness, though, so I know she'll eventually wake up because of it anyway. Sometimes I can do it & keep her asleep, but we cosleep, so it's not hard. And if she awakens I just nurse her back to sleep.
If the wetness bothers her, change her. If not, load her up with powder & let her sleep!
A., I wouldn't...just for your sanity. I would buy some better diapers that you use just for the nights so they will last a long time (since they won't be generic) and only use those when you put her down...changing her diaper at the last second before you do put her down. She should be just fine. Good luck!!!
Yes I always changed mine. I got skills at getting it done really fast and quietly! You can also use a diaper doubler, disposable or cloth to help catch the added urine during the night added with getting a nice nylon (not plastic) diaper cover. That should get it done for you. ")

Don't wake her to change her. Get a bigger diaper. You can't trust the weight on the diapers to fit your baby. It's all trial and error.
