Hi Everyone,

I have a soon to be one year old little girl name Ella who has been a very good sleeper up until the past few weeks. Now that she has figured out that she can sit up in bed when she wakes up in the middle of the night she is having difficulty going back to sleep. In the past when she was on her back she would complain a bit then fall back asleep. Now that she sits up she falls asleep sitting up and catches herself. It can take a hour for her to get back to sleep then she falls forward over her feet and ends up with her head by her feet folded in half. So my question is do I let her sleep this way? Has anyone dealt with this? Ella was a breech baby and I also wondering if she is comfortable in this position because that was the way she was in the womb?

What can I do next?

M., my baby also wakes up quite a bit in his sleep...some days are better then others though. He'll wake up and stand up in his crib and whine until I come and put him back down. It's like he's confused and he doesn't realize all he has to do is sit back down (because he knows how to do it). I just go to him and reposition him and reassure him that it's ok. He always goes back to sleep thank god. I think the one thing you should do is be consistent with what you do with your lil one when she does wake up. Also, I've been told to just let me kid sleep in whatever position he's in. Even though it might look uncomfortable to you she might be completely comfortable. If it bothers you that much then reposition her, if not then let her be. She probably won't stay in that position all night anyways, right? Good luck. I do hope you find something that works! :)

OMG, I am reading this post and thinking what......I am so confused. You are probably wondering why are you confused? Well, I am from Groveland I have a soon to be one year old little girl name Ella who is going through the very smae thing!!

My daughter was not breech baby, and she eventually lays back down on either her back or belly and goes to sleep, however it can take up to an hour.

Hi M.! It's Jess... my DD has been doing the same...falling asleep, waking up then getting into crazy positons because she is so tired. Once she falls back asleep I usually wait like 20 minutes or so and depending on how crazy her position is I will go in and move her. If I go in too soon then she wakes up and the process starts all over again. I have been finding that she sleeps just fine in the strangest ways-I am getting better at just letting her be. Good Luck.

PS: I have been doing a lot of reading on the sudden night wakings and I have read that with each new milestone (crawling, standing, cruising etc) children practice their new skills in their sleep. When they come in and out of light/deep sleep they actually wake up and practice. I just try to be as consistent as possible with her when this happens.

Jessica
