Hello Mamas,

I was wondering if anyone is trying Weight Watchers new Point's Plus program that they just started a few weeks ago? I bought the old books probably about 4 years ago and it wasn't for me. At the time I just wanted to lose a few pounds. Well since then I have had two kids and now I would like to lose about 25 pounds. I already workout two times a week with a trainer and have been for about 5 years. I don't have much free time now so that is usually the most I can make it to the gym. I have friends that have tried the HCG diet and both have lost alot of weight. I am not that strict so I don't think I could make it on the HCG diet. So if any of you are trying it or our going to please let me know what you think. My biggest downfall are sweets. I can't stay away. I am my own worst critic and most people say I am not over weight at all, but I just want to look better in my clothes and my ideal weight would be to lost about 20-25 pounds. Thanks in advace for your advice.

What can I do next?

The change in the WW program is a vast improvement IMO. What it does is force you to eat healthier foods. My problem with the old program was the 'junk' that you could eat for low points. Yes, that bag of WW chips is only 100 calories but it is processed junk food. It also factors in protein and carbs which are SO important in the equation. It is a much more solid diet now really. Foods like fruit-which as you know used to be a point-are zero points now. You get more points per day but many of your old standby foods are more points now also.

BTW-you should try this new brownie that I discovered called the "No Pudge" Fudge Brownie. It is an all natural mix that you combine with vanillla yougrt and bake...or you can do a single serve portion in the microwave with 2 tbs of mix and one tbs of yogurt, nuke for one minute. IT is only 100 calories and SO good!! A great way to curb your sweet tooth and its healthy-no artificial sweeteners or additives. Just had to share!

What is the HCG diet? never heard of it

I've been doing WW since September and have lost about 14lbs. I loved it. I didn't find it hard, but I used 2 key helpers. One is a thing called e-mealz. It's a meal planning service. They give you 7 meals per week for $5.00 a month and they have a points system. (the new points system will be avialable 1/5). So, I would cook dinner based on that, and then eat the leftovers or lunch, so that make knowing the points for what I eat very easy. I also have a smart phone and I have an app for tracking and calculating points on my phone. That also keeps it easy. You can look up values, enter your points and know how much you have left. You get a certain # of points per day and then an allowence of like 49 extra points to use during the week (like if you had a birthday or Christmas party and you wanted to indulge a bit). I think it's great.

I just read the first 2 responses and I dont' know when those points systems were in effect, but the old one (from last week) and the new one (from this week) you can't have a bag of cheetos for less than an apple! Fruits and veggies are all zero points now and the new points is supposed to take into account that even though some things have higher calories, they are easier for your body to process and leave you more full than some other things.

One more thing! I'm a sweets person too. I have the WW ice cream bars that I indulge in. they range from 1-2 ponts depending on the type you get. I also like pineapple (fresh) to curb my sweet tooth, and a lot of times I'll have coffee sweetened with Agave nectar to curb that too...(1 point on the old system, I haven't figure it out on the new system)

From what little I've read, it is much better. My mother in law, was on the old system. She could have a small bag of Cheetos, for a snack but not an apple. Cheetos had less points, then an apple. WHAT! She could also have as many pickles, as she wanted (zero points), but not a piece of fruit, or other healthy snack. So...she would eat an entire jar of pickles, instead of picking up a pear, or dipping veggies in hummus. Needless to day, she didn't loose much weight!! Personally, I think it was very flawed. They have more zero points fruits and veggies, now. In my opinion...all fruits and veggies should be zero points! BUT, it is a whole lot better and I do think it gives people better ideas about nutrition. I don't think she could get away with having Cheetos, instead of apples now. Before, it seems like you could eat a lot of junk, as long as it was under points. It doesn't seem to be like that now, Since you're already working out, it could be a good program for you. Good luck!!

I miss the flexibility of the old program. The new one is hard to follow, and also less flexible-one of the reasons I like WW is that no foods were off limits, it was moderation focused. Now this seems ridiculous and extreme. Okay, for instance an eggnog latte at Starbucks now costs a THIRD of my daily points! GIve me a break, I don't drink them every day (hardly ever) but the old plan was great for those days when you just wanted a little indulgence. I'm not thrilled, I think they should give members a choice between the two.
