Hello! I have been in Lu for about a year. My husband is in medical school here so I have quite a few recommendations for you. Pediatricians: Dr. Tammi Camp, Dr. Zeitouni, Dr. Couch, Dr. Steven Brown. I'm not sure what area of Lu you live, so I will list a couple of day cares from each area of town, that I have heard good things about (I am currently searching for one too). Day cares: Rainbows End (wolforth), Kids are cool, First Baptist Church, TX Tech Day Care, Neighborhood Academy, Shelby and Friends. Hope this helps; good luck!

Hello J.,
I would recommend First Christian's Parent's Day Out Program. It's small enough that the kids get lots of attention. The program operates on Mon,Wed, Fri, and will even be open during the summer. If you need Tue, Thur, Broadway's Sonshine School is awesome!

Hope this helps!

Hi J.

I moved to Lubbock about 6 months ago (after evacuating New Orleans). I have a 16 month old son who has a new pediatrician and day care:

Pediatrician: Linda Robbins at Covenant. She's been really great and I am very happy with her. If you want names of other people I could get those for you. I've only been here a little while but know a few people who've lived here for a long time and have a lot of information.

Day care: Oliver is currently at Trinity Church's PDO (Parents day out) program. This is his first day care experience and he seems to be doing well. He is going to go to Oakwood Methodist Preschool starting in the summer. I found this to be the best place I looked at and really quite reasonably priced. Texas Tech has a daycare/early learning childhood center, but it is almost impossible to get a place. I put Oliver on a waiting list with 40 other children, for a class with only 12 places.

I have heard bad things about the daycare place on University (College Preschool, or something like that). Most places that have been recommended to me are not in the Tech Terrace area, which is where I am living. Saying that, I looked at Miss Robin's daycare (east of University, somewhere around 24th street) and it was pretty good, although the rooms seemed a little small for toddlers.

I hope this helps a little.

Hello- I am fairly new to Lubbock myself and use Dr. Tammy Camp, she is very nice and patient. She spends time, answers questions and does a detailed check-up. Hope this helps.

Hi there!

I'm actually in Plainview, about an hour north of Lubbock, but I do have some referrals in Lubbock.

For dr's, my referral is Dr. Farmer - he was my son's ped at the hospital. He was sooo nice and I've heard great things about him. His # is ###-###-####.

You might also join a Lubbock working moms meet-up group (www.meetup.com)for more advice.

For daycare, be VERY careful. You can look on this site to find out about violations, etc: http://www.dfps.state.tx.us/Child_Care/Search_Texas_Child...

Hope this helps a little!
