We are here for about a month visiting family. However, the family is new to area and doesn't know of any kid friendly stuff to do around town. Also, they are working during the day so it is just me and the boys. We are staying in Catonsville so any fun inexpensive ideas for a 21 month old and a 4 year old would be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance.
Go to the supermarket or library and pick up the latest issue of Baltimore's Child mag. It's free and it has loads of activities in the area. The catonsville library has a lot of great activities like story times and a summer reading program. The library is on frederick road. There is a Chuck E. Cheese on route 40. Oh, and if you want to pick up some crafts for you guys to do at home, the Joann Fabrics on Rt. 40 is going out of business (30-50% off).
There is a wonderful tire park within Patapsco Valley State Park in Catonsville. The park uses old tires as jungle gym-type of equipment. It's in the Hilton area of the park. This link is for the entire Patapsco Valley park and info for tire park is buried within it. http://www.dnr.state.md.us/publiclands/central/patapscova...
I've always been a fan of taking children to parks. I don't know of any parks very close to Catonsville, but Kinder Park in Anne Arundel County is a very nice park, and not too far to drive. http://www.aacounty.org/RecParks/parks/kinderfarm_park/in...
The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore is not too expensive, and the children's zoo in it is considered one of the best in the US.

There are many expensive "touristy" places to go, but these are less expensive and fun for small children.
