Hi K.,
I have been having the same issues. I have been married 25 years & feeding a family almost as long & it just gets BORING!!! It's easier, to make the same old things. It's alot about habits....
So the other day, I picked up a magazine from Food Network (Thanksgiving edition)...(now I watch it all the time but it seems hard for me to follow along or remember a reciepe)so I picked up this magazine & could not beleive how many GREAT reciepe's are in it!!!!!
Not just Thanksgiving reciepes BUT good all around reciepe's. Some times I want to try something new BUT it requires that I buy 20 things I don't keep in the pantry so I get discouraged. Not these ones....
Maybe, it's just me BUT wow, I found so many good new dishes to make that didn't seem outrageous, or have ingrediants that I would never have. One was for a side dish with white rice & green chili's, sounded yummy. Then a bacon & egg soup? Unusual, but looked good. Several pasta dishes, including a pumpkin lasagne. Plus 50 ways to make mashed potatoes. Sorry, I'm going on & on
I just get so bored with the usual.....
This is the first time I have bought one of thier magazines, so I don't know if it's monthly or not? Or if they always have such great reciepe's??? But it is Food Network.....
Good Luck, even though I didn't give you any of my own reciepe's I hope you will check it out....I do have reciepe's I could pass on too (if u wanted) let me know.
I have a great one for your slow cooker. Cheap pork roast(pork butt,or picnic roast, bone in or not) season to taste, brown in olive oil. Put in slow cooker with half a jar Safeway Green salsa, cover & let cook several hours. Makes a great Chili Verde. Make with fresh tortillas, some beans, cheese,lettuce...done
Hope it helps.......
