New Ob/Gyn - Novi,MI

I am in the market for a new ob/gyn. Currently I am with Gruskin/Payson in Farmington Hills but I am tired of the waiting game. Every appointment takes at least two hours and I just don't have the time for that.

I really like Kathleen Payson but I just can't take feeling like I don't matter. I feel like they are too busy to handle another patient and would rather go to a bigger practice that can get me in when I need to be seen or call me back when I have a question.

I have been having irregular periods since my misscarriage last year and have now experienced the all too alarming second period in two weeks. I called to speak to either doctor so I would know what kind of appointment to make and get some questions answered and I never recieved a call back. I know there was just one doctor there today but a simple five minute phone call would have been nice. I sat at home waiting ALL DAY for that phone call and didn't get it.

Can anyone please recommend a good practice in the Novi and surrounding areas? My husband and I have been trying for our third child so an OB/GYN would be preferred rather than just a GYN.

Thanks so much in advance!

What can I do next?

I have gone to Metro Partners in Women's Health at Providence Park in Novi for all 3 of my babies. I primarily see Dr. Helene Lacoste, but have been delivered by 3 of her partners (Hakim, Marback, and Pezeshki), and seen a few of the other partners in the practice. They are all wonderful docs, and even the midwives are great. I would highly recommend them to anyone!

They rarely have a wait time (and I had appointments at varying times, with 3 pregnancies) and the docs are willing to spend as much or as little time as you feel you need. I've had great experiences with return phone calls, the on-call service, and all of the staff - from the receptionists to the MAs, to the u/s techs.

I have a great doc in Troy but I think she is phasing out of the OB part of the job. The reason I go to her (I live in Farm Hills) is because of the same situation you are dealing with. It was almost impossible to get into my previous OB/Gyn in a timely manner, even to meet with her about MRI results she had ordered for me. I had to wait a month to get the results because her people made no effort to get me in quicker. Anyway, that was the last straw for me and I asked friends for referrals. I really like my doc in Troy because she is a one-doctor office and does not overload herself. I sometimes have to wait about 3-5 minutes to see her but that is it. It has been a huge blessing so it's totally worth it to make the move to the right doc. Also, as I left my other doc, I wrote her a letter explaining why I left her office. I feel like these doc's need to understand they are losing patients for no good reason.

I second Metro Partners in Women's Health. I saw the midwives during my entire pregnancy. I was planning to give birth in the ABC at Providence Southfield (but it didn't work out that way in the end). I had an appointment with Dr. Marback, and Dr. Thai attended my birth at Providence Park. They were both great. And I love the midwives!

I love Dr. Goldsmith at Walnut Lake OB/GYN, on the southeast corner of Pontiac Trail and Haggerty in West Bloomfield. I never wait long to get in, always get a call back when I've left a message, and appreciate the time he spends with me during our appointments. Dr. Maurant and Dr. Katz are both good to work with as well. I've often wished I could find a primary care physician that I like and respect as much as Dr. Goldsmith. Good luck with your search!
