I am new to the area, I am 15 weeks pregnant and need to find a good OB, fast! I would really prefer to see a woman as my primary doc, but I know that sometimes you don't really have the option when you are pregnant. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

What can I do next?

I would highly recommend the OBGYN Center in Frederick, MD. There are two female doctors, one male doctor and a female nurse practioner. They are all wonderful. I just delivered with them 7 months ago. Their office is located on Thomas Johnson Drive and their number is ###-###-####.

Hi T.,

If you live in the Frederick area, I LOVE my OBGYN. I'm not pregnant anymore, but still go there for regular gynecology appts. The practice name is Simmonds & Simmonds. I only ever saw Dr. Martin (male) once, beyond that I saw all females. My favorite is Dr. Sweeney! Love her. But really all of them are great. The staff is wonderful too, from the receptionists, to the nurses. Extremely helpful. Hope you find a practice you like and are comfortable with.

Best wishes,
D.

Not sure exactly what area you are in, but if you are close to baltimore, Dr. Sandra Quartner is fantastic. Her office is on the campus of GBMC (Greater Baltimore Medical Center) in Towson (just north of Baltimore). I've been seeing her for about 14 years and she's gotten me through cervical cancer and the birth of son. I live in Taneytown and I think it is worth the drive. I don't plan to get an OB/GYN closer to town until after, maybe well after, I have had my second child.

Good luck.

I also highly recommend the OB & GYN Center in Frederick (97 Thomas Johnson Drive, www.obandgyncenter.com, I see you already have the phone number). I have gone to this practice for about eight years and have delivered three babies with them. I'm now 27 weeks pregnant with my fourth son, and I'm still just as pleased with the practice!

Right now, they have three doctors (one of them being female) and a female nurse practitioner. One of the things I like most about this practice is that it's smaller than most of the other practices in the area, so you receive more personalized attention (at least in my experience). You also know that one of three doctors will deliver your baby (they make sure you see each one at least once before delivery) as opposed to the possibility of not ever meeting the doctor who ends up delivering your baby in a larger practice.

I hope this information helps, and I wish you the best of luck with your pregnancy and finding the practice that best suits your needs.
