Dear mothers of Portland (or elsewhere),
I am a 23 year old expecting my first this summer.
Subsequently I am looking for all kinds of information...if anyone knows any good birthing classes, breastfeeding classes, daycare/preschools (I'll have to be back to work pretty soon after she is born), good places for quality second hand maternity wear and kids stuff, other ideas for being thrifty, yet safe about child gear, etc...ANYTHING!!!! please let me know.
Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

If you are still looking for a good resource for used clothes Other Mothers' in Gresham off of 181st is a nice store. They take good quality clothes not just the name brands.
Congrats on your journey to becoming a new Mom.

I don't know where you're having your baby but if you can get Good Sam they are terrific the birth rooms are big and comfortable and the breast feeding lady is great! I have a infant car seat 1 year old and girl bedding and mobile if you want it. Also if you would like to call I have a couple of things to make your pregancy more comfortable that isn't told in the books! ###-###-####

Hi, I wanted to give you the email address of Vittoria Palazzi [____@____.com] I think she has a website www.birthwisdom.com...she teaches amazing prenatal yoga classes and is a huge resource of information.

There is a secondhand store in Lake Oswego called POSH TOTS...they have high quality second hand clothing but honestly I feel it is overpriced...there is another one is SW called Kathryn's Closet..

Let me know the area you live in at I might have some suggestions for child care.

I am the mother of a 3 year old daughter and 13 month old son....

I am happy to help in any way!!

Hi M.,
Here are some places that you might want to visit regarding second hand clothes. Katelyn's Closet-7429 SW Capital Hwy, ###-###-####. There is maternity and children clothes along with some other baby things. I think the price was pretty reasonable. Second To None -6308 SW Capital Hwy (located near Subway). This shop is more expensive for used clothes because it mostly high end clothes, however is does have other used baby items. Frock-n-Britches-13815 SW Pacific Hwy -###-###-####. This has used baby clothes and other times. They are reasonably priced. Other places that I've had good luck at find iin expensive clothes is old navy and mervyns. When there are sales they are really good. I have bought a lot of clothes at Mervyns for under $5.
I had a great birthing class through legacy (good Sam). However I don't remeber my teachers last name, her first name is barb. You may be able to get more information by calling legacy. They have really helpful people.

I hope that this helps.

Celste

Hi M.,
I have a 10 week old and I know what you're going through. She was my first. I took several classes through Portland Providence. You can go to their website and sign up for any type of prenatal classes- I recommended the prenatal swim class. You'll meet other pregnant women and get good exercise for you and the baby. They also have birthing class and childcare class and a lactation class if you are planning to breastfeed. if you have PPO insurance you can get a discount on the classes. good luck! K.
